Mr. Football in 6A

Recommended Posts

With the new change of just one Mr. football in the entire class I believe that eliminates any chance an offensive lineman has. D line would have to have a monster year.

With that being said who wins in 6A?

I will name my top from the Mid TN area.

(reminder that Master Teague is out for year)

Lelan Wilhoite from Siegel High should be in the five finalist but no further than that with team most likely missing the playoffs.

Aidan Raines from Mt. Juliet. Don't see him winning but has the numbers.

Ill throw in Trey Knox of Blackman because he has the offers to win it but his numbers aren't worthy. This seems to be a down year with Teague being out. Woodi Washington of Oakland is another name but doesn't have the numbers because no one will throw his way.

I think Wilhoite is a good back, but I'm not sure he's elite. Against 2 of the top 3 teams in Region 3 6A, he's been very average.

Oakland 22 for 142 (1 for 80yds, 21 for 62yds)

Blackman 13 for 48

Honestly with Teague out for the year, I don't see anyone from Region 3 getting Mr. Football.

Keep sleeping on Aidan Raines.... 6A will get to know him over the next 6 weeks.

Probably the softest schedule in 6A for a winning team.  4 of the teams [(out of 8) half of their schedule] they have played have a combined record of 4-28.  Let's repeat that ... 4-28.  Not hard to put up numbers against that lack of competition.   You can't control the schedule but Mr. Football is a stretch.  If they get past the 2nd round, I'll believe but right now not even the best team/RB in Wilson County (if you consider the other classifications).

so why are we leaving out Riverdale running back Savion, who has been consistent, But he had talent around him

Rooks consistence but Oakland had some soft games as well, and when you run the wing-T you suppose to get yard because you got everybody blocking or hole team pulling not good for college recruitment,

But Wilhoite did what he did with a one dimensional team, he carried the offense on his back in one of the toughest region, and he still got over a 100 yd a game. he only play 2 quaters against Blackman and had 48 by a half. before being injured. he played none against Warren Co. but yet still a top leader in rushing 6A, he did a lot of work for, only true talent on that offense.

Raines soft schedule plus had good people around him

And HOP from Maryville, good but not dominate

So Teague unfortunately he's hurt, would have won no doubt.

But before we just go on these kids pure skills and who did what, there is a catch to wining MR. Football the kids must meet all other achievements such as academics qualifications ,and more

It dose not matter who we think may win MR Football if they don't meet all the criteria's you can run for 3000 yds it want matter, or make a 100 tackle, or 50 interceptions.

And your opinion means little to nothing. You aren't on the committee at the TSSAA that is going to decide Mr Football. If your simple mind would have paid attention to what I said you would know that the award will be decided in the next 6 weeks.

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
