Stratford at Fairview II Round 1

Stratford came to town 2 years ago and thrashed a young Jackets team. There's a few guys still on the Fairview roster that played in that game. I'm sure they remember it well.

Don't know anything about Stratford this year other than they went 3-7 against a tough schedule and I hope they're bringing the band.

Head coach change but some other coaches are still there. They have been struggling this year with identity but starting to get it together. They still have size and speed. They have at least 5 or more players who are as fast and quick and your RB. Their best player was released to play last week. He's been out majority of the season. I don't know if he played or not last week. I'm kind of surprised they pushed Giles so hard.

I noticed the Giles Co game score. Figured the rain had Giles passing attack grounded and limited their offense.

Regardless, Fairview will be ready for the same caliber Stratford team they saw 2 years ago showing up Friday.

I just hope Stratford thinks they're playing against the same Fairview team they played 2 years ago. :D

27-20 Fairview. Final.

Great defensive effort and overall game plan by Stratford. This game was nothing like I had pictured. I expected flags galore and alot more scoring. Both defenses played bend but don't break. Very few penalties. Zero personal fouls. Good clean game. Fairview seemed to take control a couple times in the game only to let Stratford break a big play and get back in it. I got nervous with about 3 minutes to go. Fairview drove all way down the field and scored to go up 27-14. Then Stratford answered quickly. Then came close to recovering the onside kick. A couple knees later and it was over.

Great game Spartans. My goodness you are big, fast, and athletic. I don't understand how you were 3-7... smh

Good luck to Fairveiw! You guys have a really good team and should make a strong run from this point on. Stratford better have an extremely good defense if they expect to win this one.

Thanks Vandy. They certainly did have a great defense. Alot better than I expected anyeay. Probably the best we seen all year. Including Ravenwood. They kept #8 in check for the most part but we couldn't have won it without him IMO.

That may be one of the best 3-7 football teams I’ve ever seen. They definitely brought it tonight.

The game kind of went through what I thought it was going to be. I was really thinking that Stratford was going to upset you guys. How Stratford is 3 and 7. ...  Switched offense almost mid season. Play teams who were bigger, faster and just plain out more discipline.

I never thought it would be a cake walk. I just expected Stratford to be undisciplined and sloppy. I couldn't have been more wrong about that. I remember how big and athletic they were 2 years ago. That part hasn't changed!

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
