rebelboy121
The AD stated in the newspaper that they wanted a person who was 75% teacher and 25% football coach. Not a very good comment about the hire and it shows how much the administration cares about football. If he puts 25% into football they will continue to be a doormat in high school football.

I hope they are not saying that Daniel's is a 1/4 of the coach they need. I would take that as a slap in the face if I were Daniel. If the AD was the guy doing the searching for the new coach, maybe he should receive the "Currie" treatment. Job malpractice.
workinprogress
Where has WingTguy gone to to give his opinion on this hire. Would love to know his thoughts.
DTCSPORTS
Being at the press conference and talking to everyone before and afterwards, I got the feeling that 75-25 comment meant more to the effect that they were looking for someone with character, first and foremost, not that they were looking for someone who was 25 percent coach. I don't think that's what was meant at alI in that comment. My opinion, think they've made a very good hire. He has a great deal of coaching experience, knows and loves Cannon County, and I truly believe he will work very hard for the program. He said it himself, it's going to take time, as well as patience and support. Cannon fans really love their football (and all their sports) and will get behind the new coach and the players. I'm excited to see the product on the field this fall.
workinprogress
I understand the comment of wanting a great teacher and someone of high character. However I'm not sure I would have actually stated it in that way. It leaves the door open for the perception that you don't care about athletics. I think what they are trying to say is you are paid to be a teacher first. Majority of pay is to teach. All coaches work 100% for 10-25% of their pay. I do not think this comment is saying they do not care about football
workinprogress
I get what they were trying to say but my point is that it could have been stated in a much better way or just not stated at all. By the way, they were looking for a football coach. The ad is still on tssaa website. Why post there if what they really wanted was a teacher that might be able to also coach. madmolly
Good luck Coach it has got to be one of the toughest places in the state to coach. Trying to coach without a true Middle School program if you can win 5 games it will be like going 10-0. You could have closed three of the small K-8 schools 10 years ago and saved enough money in that time to have paid for a Middle School but nobody wants to change. But i hope that you can turn things around.
