Bump11
Any surprises or upsets? Saw where Logan Powers made the finals after not being seeded and beating the 1 (Bridgford) and the 4. How he wasn’t seeded I don’t know Edited February 10, 2018 by Bump11

How he wasn’t seeded I don’t know Looks like Cole K beat Chad M....looks like the WC region when bonkers at 132. 132s seeding should really interesting now, Pendley, Brown, and Henderson seeded. Klingersmith, Manuel placing will be crucial. A #1 seed will get C. Massa in rd of 16.

Halls qualified all 14, 10 Champions, 3 runner-ups, and a 3rd in Region 2. Also, a region with 4 to 7 man brackets. TSSAA did one heck of a job with this latest team placements in various regions.....horrible.

Just my lashing out about the region alignment. Just not fair to kids who have full brackets. If you only have to win once to qualify, something is wrong. No problem and I agree that even though difficulty of matches cant be the same across the different regions, the number of matches that lead to qualification should be. TSSAA has always been a money grab.

TSSAA has always been a money grab. It’s ridiculous. I have family who wrestles in another state and they have 5 divisions, 1A-5A. Each division has 4 regions. And the state tournament is 16 man brackets. AND they use the main arena in the state that seats 20k for the state tournament. There is no duals tournament. There are guys from literally every division, that go D1 and can compete anywhere. Yet we split classes so that the little guys get a chance. I know it’s like comparing apples to oranges. But if other states can churn out fair tournaments and proper seeding and top talent with 5 divisions, why can’t we do it with 3? Are we really that much worse talent wise than everyone else? I will say this....in regards to it not being fair....from what I see from the results....it only effects your 3 & 4 place kids. Most of the regions appear to have gotten their best kids, their real threats to win, into the finals.... So, usually we are arguing about how watered down the word “state qualified” is....now we’re debating what’s fair to kids that have no chance to win? Am I mistaken here? I would say that you are correct, I think bump was just saying that its unfair that some only have to win one match to advance, while some have to run the gauntlet. I guess anyone that makes it to state has the chance for a magical run.
