Penny to University of Memphis??????

Penny just signed two more recruits. A 4-star and a top JUCO player. The U of M has one more scholarship left. He's getting it done on the recruiting trail.

Was there ever any doubt? Penny will have a great 2 year run on the recruiting trail. After that, his recruiting will be heavily impacted good or bad by 3 things:

1. Is he producing NBA draft choices?

2. Won / Loss record

3. NCAA tournament appearances

I'm personally hoping Penny is really successful and U of M is back in the top 25!

That's why it is so important to get off to a good start recruitment wise. You win when you have the horses to run with. There is no longer a 5-year plan scenerio. You get two years to put your program on the map. Like it or lump it, that's the way it is.

I'm hopinh like you. Getting James Wiseman is KEY to the success of that endeavor. John Calipari has every right to be concerned. If anybody can get James to consider another school, it would be Penny, at this time in his coaching career.

Just saw an interview on Memphis channel 24 news with Doc Holiday and James Wiseman. I had no idea that kid was that smart. 4.3 GPA and spoke fluent Mandarin Chinese. Seemed mature beyond his years. The sky is the limit for that young man. Much respect.
