I would agree WB is better than many want to portray.

People who just read the paper and see that WB loses more often than not dont understand the situation over here.

WB is the biggest school in Blount County and regularly has enough talent to field a good football team. The problem is the school has historically not put a lot of focus on winning in football (or any sport for that matter).

We've had subpar coaching most of the time and we have to compete with Maryville, Alcoa, and Greenback for players. Those are three state championship level programs that just so happen to border WB's zone.

Last year one of WB's best players jumped ship and transferred to Maryville after we lost to Lenoir City in the first game. Those are the kind of challenges WB has to contend with.

However, it looks like things are finally headed in the right direction. Shad has been making improvements to the staff and the feeder program is in great shape. This team has a completely different attitude than the other teams WB has fielded in the past decade.

If Your “suppose to be dominant” you win in a blowout. If it had been Greeneville you’d be all over us. One guy not being 100% should not mean your team can barely win. If we lost Ballard we’d still be dominant

Yeah I only can imagine having to compete in that type of atmosphere and turning something like that around for many may be impossible with likes like Maryville. I think many of us overlook those obstacles faced since we are not or may not be in that situation.

So you agree that Ac is not dominant

I realize that Greeneville is dominant no matter who they play they are going to come out a winner. And I assume you just mean the state of Tennessee. They may be able to beat almost all classes of Teams in state of Tennessee but they will not beat the Mavericks this year because the Mavs are Hungry for some good tasting Green Devil! :)

Saw the film from this game. The Cows are in big trouble if they can even make it to the quarterfinals. From what I saw Greeneville will beat them with a running clock in the second half.

The Ac defense is awful both on run defense and pass defense. If they want to even compete with the defending champs they better get better and quick. Because imo they won’t make it past Betsy in the second round or possibly even the first round.

Well the key is we will get better and your at the best you can be. Remember we have Martin best QB in 4A and when we need to we will turn him loose. The defense will improve over the course and again you did not see the real Mavericks at full speed. Plus you have to consider the penalties and turnovers and lastly WB is I believe a good team. Now it really is the apple and Orange fact. What did you think about those Wildcats of OR. The pounded DB the same team you beat. So you really have not been tested yet. Seriously I firmly believe that you will need to be tested and thus far you have not played a team that can really test you. So you can hold off thumping your chest for now. And I told you it would be interesting if OR beat DB just like you guys did. It is something to really think about now. The Mavs are 2-0 and it only gets better. Go Mavericks!!!

I watched the Fulton And Greeneville scrimmage. A good passing team will hurt Greeneville just like Fulton did. You know Central played fulton better than Greeneville did. You say they beat you because your qb wasn't live and couldn't run. Well guess what AC qb had a torn acl 1st quarter  and couldn't run or step into his throws in the AC/Devils playoff game. See you 3rd round!! Hope you play a good passing team befor you play AC!  You can say how bad we are and greeneville going to kill us.. you sound just like you did last year....lol Oh I see maybe 1 to 2 wins for DB congrats you beat two bad teams...

Dude you know not what you talk about! The Fulton/Greene was a scrimmage! A scrimmage is not a live real keeping score game; that's why it's called a SCRIMMAGE!  If your going to talk smack then talk smack about a real game!

I just realized that every school in Anderson County has a singing group that can be associated with the school. (All that D-B band talk on the OR thread)

Anderson County - country band The Mavericks

Oak Ridge - The Oak Ridge Boys and last but not least.....

Imagine Dragons for Clinton.

You can now return to your regularly scheduled AC vs Greeneville bashing.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
