Of course these standings will change and I will try to update each wk. I ranked them by region record and quality of region win as best as I could

Region 5

1. Montgomery Central 5-0 (2-0)

2. Springfield 4-1 (2-0)

3. Creek Wood 3-2 (1-1)

4. Portland 4-1 (1-1)

5. Greenbrier 2-3 (1-2)

6. White House 3-1 (0-1)

7. W.H. Heritage 0-5 (0-2)

Region 6

1. Jackson N. 3-2 (2-0)

2. Jackson S. 5-0 (2-0)

3. Lexington 2-3 (1-1)

4. Liberty 1-4 (1-1)

5. Hardin Co. 3-2 (0-2)

6. Chester Co. 0-4 (0-2)

Region 7

1. Dyersburg 5-0 (2-0)

2. Crockett Co. 4-1 (1-0)

3. Ripley 2-3 (1-1)

4. Haywood 2-3 (0-1)

The bracket flips this year I believe. Last year, the region 5 champ was set up to host every round until the finals with the way the bracket was. Had White House won in rd 2, they would have hosted round 3, and if they had won that one, they would have hosted Haywood instead of Springfield. I say that to say this; I’m not sure about rd 3, but I know the region 7/8 team will host the semis against a 5/6 team. Say Springfield is fortunate enough to make it back to the semis, they get to go down I-40 instead of hosting.

I assume so. The schedule is pretty much the same as last year. I’m assuming we win the region as well. I believe we would travel in round 3 as well. Don’t hold me to that though. I looked for a bracket on the TSSAA sight but couldn’t find it yet

I’m thinking you’re right about round 3 that region 5 has to travel to region 6 for the quarters. Yes the semi’s are on Black Friday, because the even # A’s championship games are on the Thursday after thanksgiving this year. Personally I’m not a big fan of a championship game on a Thursday, I wish they would put the private school championships the week after thanksgiving in a stand alone event and the public school championships the following week on Friday and Saturday. Just my $.02....

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
