Springfield vs Haywood again......

This Covington fan will be pulling for Haywood. Why?

1. Haywood is a former Big 10 member along with Covington from back in the "old days"

2. I live about 200 yards from the Haywood County line. I'm a Haywood County taxpayer too because part of our farm is across the line.

3. My dad graduated from Haywood.

So, I'm hoping that Haywood can advance to Cookeville.

35-31 Haywood, were actually the underdogs in this i love it. Will be a great game

I don’t see how Haywood is the underdog. They just beat an undefeated Dyersburg like a drum and played a very tough non region schedule. Playing at home is an added bonus. I would think Haywood would be the favorite. It doesn’t really matter, though, who people think is the underdog and who is the favorite. All that matters is what the teams think and I would think both teams are confident they will win. I think this will be a great game. The keys aren’t that hard to figure out.  Springfield needs to stop #31 and #2 and Haywood needs to stop #23 and #32. The defense that plays the best will probably determines who wins, along with turnovers. I’m excited for the opportunity for Springfield to come to West Tennessee and show our brand of football.

I feel you, but to those players that’s how they feel, part of the reason of there recent play. I’m excited for y’all to come down. And just to let you all know Haywood is small very few eating places lol all local spots but majority of the eating spots are in jackson

How far west of Brownsville is Mason? May come down early and go to the OG Gus’s fried chicken.

Where is that at? Might have to check it out while we're down there.

In Mason, TN down the road from Brownsville, looks like about 20 miles or so on the map. But idk for sure. It’s the original Gus’s tho. If you’ve ever ate at any of them you’ll now why I’m asking about it. I’m not a big fan of fried chicken, but I love Gus’s. It’s one of the few fried chicken places I’ll eat.

Yep, Gus’s is in Mason TN. From I-40 your best bet is to take Exit 35 and go toward Covington. You will go thru Braden, turn right on US 70 and go 3 miles to Mason. Gus’s is on your right as you enter town. Mason is also home to Bozo’s BBQ, famous for BBQ since 1923.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
