i say devils up by 4 scores by halftime. Look i understand they are cocky but honestly until someone shuts them up they can keep talking lol. There is nobody on this board that would not love to have their tradition. I respect what they got going on and i will praise them...when they finally get beat i will tell them that too lol.

I will be that guy...

Schools that have open zoning like Alcoa, Maryville, and Greeneville have a much bigger advantage than any private school that was playing D1 the last 15 years.  $500 bucks to go play at Alcoa, sign me up!

Yes these programs have built the tradition and are great schools, but that's an advantage that lots of schools don't get.  Yes... their fans can be cocky, because the team can back it up.  But let's not act like the playing field is even across the board.

The 3 "dynasty" teams I mentioned, among others, are open zones.  Anybody who is willing to make the drive can play.  The out of zone "tuition" is minuscule when compared to the private school's 10-20k tuition.

In other words you don't have to live there to play there. They can draw on the best players in the area.

Not sure about Haywood, but Springfield, and lots of public schools don't have this luxury.

Preach Pastor!!!  I was thinking the same thing. They don't want to talk about that though. They dont want to admit, but it is an advantage.  Imagine if Springfield could draw from all over Robertson County especially with all the success lately. We'd have Whitehouse, and Greenbrier lineman, and linebackers, Jo Byrns backs. East Robertsons WR. That's just not our reality, but its Greenevilles.  It's not a fair playing field.  No excuses here though.  It's a flaw in the system and they're taking advantage.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
