Well HC won 14-0 over Paducah Tilghman! It was a game of the good the bad and the ugly

THE GOOD: Running game looked good, freshman QB had a pretty TD pass, the Junior QB had a great run for a TD, no false start penalties, defense looked great and was flying to the ball

THE BAD: Miscommunication on the exchange between QB and RB

THE UGLY: Freshman QB threw an early INT, had 2 fumbles and lost 1

Really thinking something happened on the INT. You don’t throw a pass like that and then throw a beautiful touchdown like he did in the 2nd quarter, and it not have slipped or something. Jr QB had a really good night running the ball, his throws were a bit off though. Was surprised to see Travis put the ball on the turf. That’s not like him at all. Odoms is such a big play threat. We have to get him the ball more. Also need Foster back ASAP, even though the other RB’s have looked really good. I thought the defense played lights out, and the OL was much improved last night. I believe we’re being very vanilla on both sides of the ball right now, and it will look completely different (better) next Friday night.

Yes sir I believe the defense played their best last night and so did the o line! With that being said our first 4 games of the season are brutal!!! We could be anywhere from 1-3 to 3-1 after those first 4 games. We wont be 4-0. My hope is that we will be 2-2 at minimum. If things dont go our way we could easily be 1-3. Dont forget freshman QB with a brutal start to the season! Haywood is last years 4A runner up, Beech was in semi final in 5A last year and expected to be in Cookeville this year, Dyer County will be a cakewalk, Brentwood is Brentwood they will be tough

You’re exactly right. In my opinion, Haywood may be the most important of the four games. Maybe even the most important of the first half of the season. If we come out and play well against them and get the win, it could set the tone for the entire season. If we lay an egg, we could very well go 1-3 in that stretch. Either way, I still say this team will look completely different by week 7-8. Experience will go a long way, especially for the young QB and new starters up front.

This is very true. Our season could very well be determined by how well week 1 goes against Haywood! If we beat Haywood I like our chance to beat either Beech or Brentwood.

FWIW, Brentwood shut out Beech in a scrimmage a couple weeks ago. Brentwood will likely be the best team we face this year. Haywood and Germantown might be our two most winnable non region games.

I know people are high on Beech and with good reason but I still like our chances against them. I may be the only one but I really think we can beat them! Haywood is going to be tough with G-Towns head coach now! Germantown isnt going to fall off the map like people think! That bunch is still going to be stout! I really think Haywood is a toss up, we beat Beech, we lose to Brentwood, Germantown is a toss up

We need it badly but I think it’s “when not if”.

Hope so. Seems like it’s been tabled for 3-4 years. What’s crazy is it would save us money in the long run. People don’t realize how much it costs on a year to year basis to keep a grass field up to standard.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
