Congrats for the Tn teams For their placers. However Prep Slam is def not the same as when it first started when 1 memphis team was the first team to start going then few other Tn D2 team still started and at one point seemed like mostly all D2 schools were going. But not even other top teams across the country no longer attend this tourney. Not sure who or how it could be a top 10 tourney now.

In any given year the Prep Slam could be considered "top shelf" or not. Much depends on what prep wrestling programs have on their plate and what head coaches feel is needed, schedule-wise, to meet the readiness of their wrestlers. Then, one needs to factor in what arcane policies athletic administrations impose on their *own* sports programs, which prevent some schools from participating.

As for Tennessee D2 schools, the Prep Slam is geographically appealing - except for the Memphis prep schools. Unfortunately, given that D2 schools now see one another 4 weeks in a row, including sectional duals, head coaches prefer to schedule other competition during the season.

In our sport, focusing on specific teams is like being unable to see the forest for the trees. It's only relative to a certain degree. This year's Prep Slam had a plethora of nationally recognized individuals.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
