I feel like Boone is on the rise and might upset Either DB or SH in the tourney. SH seems to have peaked in early January and haven’t played a complete game in a couple of weeks.

You may be right.  Boone should've beat D-B in the Dome last Friday night.  I'm a D-B fan, but they got two very questionable calls/no calls in the final minute Friday night to pull it out.  They haven't been the same since Johnson went down with that injury.  Even though she is back playing now, her minutes are being very limited to about 5-8 minutes per game.  Since she is only a sophomore, I believe, I can see why she is being limited because she still has two more good years ahead of her.  But, they play much better when she is on the floor being the good inside post presence that she is.

  2. Science Hill 11-1, 25-3
  3. Daniel Boone 8-4, 20-9
  4. Cherokee 5-7, 17-10
  5. David Crockett 4-8, 9-16
  6. Volunteer 2-10, 6-21
  7. Tennessee High 1-11, 7-21

  • Unicoi County 60, David Crockett 43 (non district)

Saturday, February 9

The district slate of the schedule is complete after tonight's games.  D-B won the coin toss with Science Hill to get the number 1 seed.  If what @LINEDAD posted on another thread in the boys forum is correct, then the bracket will look like this:

First round:

6 Volunteer vs. 7 Tennessee High

Second Round:

3 Daniel Boone vs. 6/7 Winner

4 Cherokee vs. 5 David Crockett

Semifinals:

1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4/5 Winner

2 Science Hill vs. 3/6/7 Winner

Finals:

1/4/5 Winner vs. 2/3/6/7 Winner

D1 tourney starts tonight! I will take THS in a mild upset of Volunteer. This is the best part of the year. I hope all the teams put forth great effort. My upset for the tourney is Boone over SH. If SH does get by Boone and makes the finals though, they will win the tournament. DB really has been struggling shooting the ball. They will need more kids to knock down shots and help lighten the load for Courtney. I would worry she will try and do too much which might end of hurting them.

You're spot on.  Did you see the game with Elizabethton on Saturday night?  Whitson was outscoring them by herself at halftime I believe.  One player can't do it all in the postseason.  D-B definitely needs another player to step up or they will be one and done in the region I am afraid.  Is the region tournament seedings based on the district tournament finish, meaning the winner of the district tournament gets the top seed in region?

D-B is very hit or miss most nights.  They either play outstanding as they did against Cherokee Friday night or they play horribly as they did last night.  I believe Science Hill is the better team, but they're not 22 points better as they were last night.

    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
