Well said by play4fun.  Best team won but I thought Pickett got worst of it, especially early.  Clay county guard, number 20, was difference in my opinion.  I would to know how it would of come out had technicals not occured but I still think Clay would of won.  Even before the technicals Pickett girls seemed to be frustrated by officials.  Maybe rematch down road...

The head of officials is from clay county. His wife was one of the officials. He may live in McMinnville now. But he is from clay.

So the head of officiating is from Clay County and his wife was a ref in a district tournament game that Clay played in? And this is the same game Pickett coach/some fans were ejected from?

And then don’t forget. The other guy (Rick Shoulders) is another head officials for the area. His daughter was one of the officials.

The biggest problem was that Pickett is used to getting the calls when they drive in. These officials apparently weren’t aware of that. The tall blonde ref is one of the best and fairest in the area. Pickett was driving in and taking poor shots expecting a foul that didn’t occur. Maybe a couple of bad calls but then again there always are. Not as bad as described.

Every year come tournament time officials get tighter and dont call as many touch fouls. They basically let them play a little more. Alot of teams, coaches, and fans rely on those calls for thier team to be competitive aka "free throws." When it don't happen and the point margin gap increases all heck breaks out.Good players are supposed to avoid contact with moves, head fakes, Jab steps ,step back jumpers, not head down bull in ring drives . Defense has a right for position too, moving or not moving, they can't just be bulled over.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
