Day 2 of 16U is in the books:

Cody Chittum -Blair will be wrestling for 3rd

James Howard - McCallie will be wrestling for 3rd

Trae McDaniel  - Cleveland will be wrestling for 7th

Ashton Davis - Cleveland will be wrestling for 7th

So we have 4 16U Team TN Fargo All Americans - All 4 live in Bradley County btw.

We also have David Harper -Baylor who is wrestling for Team Ga who will be wrestling for 3rd too.

So 4 TN residents or 4 TN HIgh School wrestlers who AA.  Depending on how you want to count it.

Also, Cleveland, this is for the first time in history that any one TN HS has ever had 2 Fargo AA’s.

But, I would say there is a 99% chance that Baylor will match them this year as they still have Reinche wrestling in Juniors.  Also, I would have bet money that McCallie would have had two this year also with Withworth had he not gotten hurt tonight.

For the Juniors, TN has 4 wrestler who made it to day 2. All four are in the wrestle backs

Brooks Sacharczyk - Blackman

Mason Reinche - Baylor

Cooper Flynn - Mcdonogh

Garrett Bowers - Christian Brothers

and wrestling for Team Ga in the wrestle backs if he wrestles tomorrow

Alex Whitworth- McCallie

Really got to learn to check before you make incorrect statements... I already posted this on Facebook when it was claimed but wanted to get it here too so everyone could be aware.

Went back and checked my records, it has happened 3 other times where TN HS teams have had 2 individuals in same year
1) Brentwood - 2009 - Cameron Croy & Blake Thomas
2) CBHS - 2010 - Kaleb Baker & Tate Robinson
3) Father Ryan - 2015 - Trey Chalifoux & Eli King
I haven't updated my spreadsheet for TN records with 2018 but it didn't happen that year from my recollection.

There may have also been a year where Baylor had two but may not have counted for TN with Khamari Whimper since he reprsented GA. My gut feel says he may have overlapped with Murphy or Reiniche one year.

I was just going by what Cleveland posted on FB.  I assumed that they had already confirmed it.  Oh well, Still  one heck of accomplishment.

You must always remember to listen, read and verify.  Many times people claim various things without doing any research.

Tennessee finished the  USA Wrestling 16U Freestyle National Championships tied for 16th place which is definitely a move in the right direction.  If things progress like they could with the RTC and a new (VERY STRONG) director for Tennessee Wrestling Federation the state could become a top 10 finisher each year.

Congratulations to the following:  Trae McDaniel (Cleveland High School) 8th place, Cody Chittum (Blair Academy) 3rd place, Ashton Davis (Cleveland High School) 8th place, James Howard (McCallie) 3rd place

David Harper (Baylor & Georgia) 4th place

    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
