Would love to put my name on this and be taken seriously! Unfortunately,  I have kids on the team and know the reprisals it would bring! I am just sick and tired of trying to teach my kids right from wrong and having bad behavior rewarded so heavily that it confuses them! But, as long as we get a winning record, who cares?

Then you should take it to the school if that is true and you care about your kids. Why would you post it here? What will that do?  I agree with the other posters you shouldn’t be talking about any kids like this. We talk football here bud.

You cannot begin to hurt my feelings. I know exactly when Peabody and Forrest would play. I just telling you Forrest has a tough road to the semifinals and if they get there it's over. Good luck to you. One question has Forrest ever been to the semifinals or further?

In all fairness, tradition is great. It's really good for being able to be able to keep kids wanting to be part of something successful year in and year out. And no one wants to be part of the class the puts a gap in the tradition. Its the foundation of a powerhouse. It can intimidate certain opponents to an extent. It helps keeps depth high. But it's not kryptonite.

In 2017 when Cornersville beat Lake County in the semi-finals, that program had not only never had a home playoff win prior to the start of that seasons playoff run, they had never won a SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME. Cornersville in one of the oldest schools in the midstate and they had only been to the playoffs SIX TIMES in probably close to a century of existence. Think about that.

0-6 before 2017 and then they beat historically powerful programs Bruceton, Huntingdon and Lake County.

In 2018 they beat all these programs on the road for their first ever road playoff wins.

Not taking anything away from your program by any means. Everyone knows Lake County is a 1A institution in both basketball and football. By history does more internally for a program than it does externally to an opponent.

Basically, it's good for fans bragging rights on boards like these. But in reality it all comes down to what happens right now, in these playoffs.

Until the early 2000's Forrest was one of the smallest schools in 1A in a region dominated by Moore County, Wayne County and Spring Hill with Huntland, Collinwood and Mount Pleasant always threatening a deep run. Cornersville and Columbia Academy used to be 6-1A doormats.

With the population explosion inside central middle Tennessee at the end of the 20th century and in the first couple decades of the the new millennium, Spring Hill went all the way to 5A until settling in 4A and Forrest is a pretty big 2A school, which has apparently suited them better.

They have been a constant threat in 2A since the move up and have consistently made the second round with some tough, close losses before finally getting a quarterfinal. To those of us with whom tradition matters, Forrest is carving out a nice reputation as a 2A power.

Only two teams finished with 10-0 records in 2A. Forrest and Peabody. Let's not pretend that doesn't mean anything. If it was easy to do and wasn't a big deal, there would be 9-10 of them. And in reality, it DOES matter in the playoffs because home field advantage matters in the playoffs. Home field is often times the difference between a win and a loss.

IF and that's a huge IF Forrest makes the semi-finals this year, home field will help because Chapel Hill packs the stadium and the student section is rowdy. The town is a ghost town during games. We all know that kind of support helps.

And contrary to what a couple posters wrote, I'm not underestimating Peabody. I watched them twice last season and they are a team full of studs.

I'm simply saying, I've covered TN High School football long enough to know that sure bets get beaten EVERY year. And as a fan, I'm not going to say it can't be done. Just like I wouldn't expect any Peabody fans to say anything different.

Back to football if anyone wants to report back what they've seen tonight.

I'm just going off scores, I covered the Marshall County-Stone Memorial game.

Forrest and Eagleville both did what I predicted. Did Eagleville's QB play or what?

Not surprised in the least about the Waverly-Summertown score.

But I def wouldn't have predicted Lewis County to go down this early. That def surprised me.

Thoughts? Analysis anyone?

Really appreciate your contributions.

Forrest had one of their easier games of the season. Hickman got a few first downs and had one very talented kid, Collins, and not much else.

37-7 doesnt show how lopsided this one was:

  • Hickman wouldn't have stopped our run game with an additional 2-3 players.
  • Hickman 1 TD was attached to a completely bogus PF call where our Mr Football nom ragdolled Collins on a completely legal play on 4th down, result- Hickman first down in the Red Zone.  Egregious call, especially in the playoffs. like WTH.
  • Forrest could've named their score. Several freshman played a lot of minutes as we had starters with the flu who usually go both ways being reserved for offense only.  Still, Hickman had nothing for Forrest.
  • So much for the big Hickman threat.
  • See you at The Rock for Eagleville Fri.

Great post. A few schools' fans have some algorithm worked out where if you even THINK about criticizing their teams, they come out in drove with their redneck anger.

There was some apprehension from Forrest's side since the flu bug paid a visit to campus during the week and some key players were affected. As late as Thursday evening the status of 2-3 seniors was still up in the air and we were on upset alert from several of the posters from the 37185.

Forrest Mr Football SemiFinalist Nick McClendon rushed 13 times for 193 yards and 2 TDs despite playing limited snaps due to illness. Forrest is still committing too many penalties; they had a 85 yard punt return and another long TD run called back in the first half.

Yes, penalty was ridiculous but a senior has to know the situation and just get him on the ground on 4th and 8 if he's wrapped up 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage - no need for a highlight form tackle slam. That could've been a huge swing in a playoff game with an elite team. They came within an eyelash of recovering their second onside kick after that score.
