Sounds like an excuse to me

Alcoa has 650 students. They aren't even at the top of 3A in enrollment. Why should they move up to deal with extra travel, etc. other than other schools in 3A are wanting them to because they aren't as successful as the Tornadoes?

Maybe other schools should step up their game instead of blaming Alcoa ? All things run in cycles. Alcoa will have a down year some time down the road.  Let the kids enjoy this historic run while it lasts.

Anxious to see her 4A region idea. I’m betting Alcoa is flying to Florida on a weekly basis. What a clown...

No local 4A teams to play (unless Knox county teams that decided to bump to 5A move back to 4A. ). As as whole 4A is not as strong as 3A anyway......

Top 2-3 in 3A this year would have won 4A and 5A.

Very Very Debatable.  Who would you say the top 2-3 teams in 3a were (Not including Alcoa).  The PC team that showed up to Cookeville and only put up 105 yards against Alcoa didn't impress me at all.  I believe AE had a better team especially on O.  That same AE team got Handled Easily by a 4a team that didn't make the Finals.  I don't see PC, Covington, AE, Loudon, Etc beating Betsy or Knox Central based off of both Centrals and Betsy D and how they played in game 15

Alcoa had a bunch to do with the PC team that showed up to Cookeville. :thumb: I don’t think the games would have been much different had Alcoa played Betsy or Central. Other than Rankin would have probably kept his offensive foot on the gas for 4 quarters rather than 2.....B)

Yes debatable. But that's the fun of forums. lol.

PC beat MBA, Indy and Cane Ridge. They beat all three of those teams by a larger margin than they beat Covington. Loudon was a pretty good team as well. Central lost to Gibbs and South Doyle. Elizabethon is a good team, but I don't think its a coincidence they won their first championship since 1938 after they bumped up to 4A.

Central has been around for about 100 years, had never won a state title now has two in 5A in the recently created 6 class system. Farragut won its only championship in 5A a couple of years ago and now is back in 6A were they belong and will likely not see another title for a long time. I think Knox West also won their first title in their school's long history in in 5A in the 6 class system. These are not coincidences.

I think the evidence is strong that PC and Covington would both have won in 4A this year. To be fair, I do think Greenville would have won 5A as well as 4A the last two years.

I wasn't talking about Alcoa vs Betsy or Central.  Yes Alcoa has a Dominate D and have proved that all year long.  Betsy and Central both have great D's (Not on Alcoa's Level) but feel PC would have had trouble against both of those D's as well.  The game is won on the line of scrimmage and I feel like Betsy and Central would have controlled the line of scrimmage against PC also.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
