of the valley rivalries? Jasper vs. NJ was a pretty good series, and back in the day of the old SVC, the stadiums were packed on Friday nights from Bledsoe to Stevenson. I think even some of the mountain teams played SP, Jasper and Whitwell? And let's not forget Grundy.

North Jackson never was in the Sequatchie Valley Conference.  The SVC was nearly folded by the time Bridgeport and Stevenson merged to become North Jackwagon.  N.J. dropped the game with Jasper because shockingly, Jasper whipped them the few times they met.  Which Mountain teams are you talking about?  Only Grundy was in the SVC.  North Sand Mtn never was.  SMA played SVC schools in basketball and once in a while in football before they got swallowed by St. Andrews.

I realize NJ was never SVC, but was thinking back to Bridgeport, Stevenson. I also know the AL mountain teams were never in the SVC

Seems like SP or Jasper may have played Pisgah or Section in the late 80's maybe? Help my memory the SVC was (north to south):

Bledsoe County

Whitwell

Jasper

South Pittsburg

Grundy

Bridgeport

Stevenson

Yes, it looks like NJ and Whitwell have a one year deal.

That's the SVC.  SP played North Sand Mtn a couple of times in 86 and 87.  Later they played Section and maybe Sky Line but can't remember for sure. The only other AL team I can recall SP playing in football is Courtland.

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
