Region 7-3A has 3 teams in the top 10 - Covington, Milan, and Westview. With South Gibson County not far behind, this has to be the strongest 3A region in the state.

Pearl Cohn is ranked #10 and they have yet to play a game ?!??!??

That's nothing. Max-Preps has PC ranked # 1 in 3A, ahead of both Alcoa and Covington. And that's before they play a game. Wooddale is ranked in that list too, and their season is probably cancelled.

I agree. It’s a shame they will all meet in their first playoff game because of Memphis teams.

Yeah, since Memphis is not playing (Region 8-3A) I'm not sure how that works, but I would expect it to go this way. Playoff first round  - Region 8-3A forfeits to Region 7-3A and nobody plays. Playoffs second round - The Region 7-3A teams play each other - 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3.

If it works that way, then the 3rd round would proceed normally. Anybody see it differently?

1v3 and 2v4. They are filling the brackets out as normal and leaving blanks where the teams not playing should be.

Not necessarily...Covington has been playing lights out and just blanked the number 6 team in 3A and held a 4-star QB to 6-22 and 33 yards. Not surprised to to see a vote or two.

Well, the Commercial Appeal's prep sports guy has picked Covington to win the Gold Ball in 3A this year in a recent column. He might be the voter giving the Chargers a #1 vote. Memphis folks are not generally "homers" for Covington, since we're in the next county. 

There are lots of games to be played between now and Cookeville. I'm happy to just take them one-at-a-time, myself.

Anything is possible. Certainly appears Covington is legitimate.
