Eagleville at Loretto

I think this could be one of the better games of the night so I thought that I would start a page for all the other FB nuts. I have really looked at this game to try and determine who has the edge and it's a challenge. it's a home game for Loretto, but they are 1 and 3 at home. Common opponents are fairly close in the margin of victory or defeat

                                      EV               Loretto

Summertown            +4                     +5

Lewis Co                     -32                   -35

Community               +32                  +29

Forrest                       -12                    -11

Mt Pleasant              +8                      -7

This game will probably come down to the intangibles such as coaching, special teams and turnovers. What is your thoughts?

Traditionally Eagleville seems to be a very consistent program and I kept waiting on them to peak but they never have. Still going w the Eagles in close game

Eagleville has been hit hard with injuries to key players since the first ball game. If coaching is a factor then advantage Eagleville. They do more with less than any program in 2A.

I would agree with the coaching part for sure. EV is well coached and will be ready to play. The less part I don't agree with because they co-op with a school that has 1000 kids and they get some pretty good players from them. Just saying that Forrest has Forrest kids and LC has LC kids good or bad and EV has a much larger pantry to get food from than us.

Don’t know how many cooped at Eagleville this year but usually they’d get 3 or 4 at best. Usually it’s a kicker from the soccer team if anything. One year it was a 3rd team QB who had never played football much less QB. This will probably sound bad but Central is a smart kid school. Most of those kids don’t want to play football much less drive 30 miles one way to do it.

As far as pantries go, Forrest never pulls some from Lewisburg?

The Lewisburg zip code covers 3/4 of Marshall County so yes we have players from "Lewisburg" but they live in subdivisions in Chapel Hill. We haven't had an impact player from MCHS in memory, not even a kicker or backup QB.  We picked up a lineman this year with good size but he hasn't seen any action in varsity games.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
