A lot easier said than done! Road sectional games are tough to win and few do it. I am confident the Indians will hold the Dome Court advantage for just 1 more game this season. Looking forward to seeing a great game! Bring a crowd, we can hold all you can bring and then some.

I guess that DB powerhouse program will have to wait another year to make it to Murfreesboro

DB is not a powerhouse program. On a scale of 0 to 100 and between average and "powerhouse" I'd give them 75. Goes back to the coaching hire process. We could of hired a great coach but instead we got a "almost great" coach. A great coach gets you in the state championship tournament and maybe even wins it. A "almost great" coach almost gets you in the state championship tournament. I'm not knocking the coach as being a bad coach or a bad person. I think he is a good guy and a good coach. But as far as ever winning a state championship or even close......It ain't gonna happen. But he is way better than the last three coaches we've had. So I'll take it and be happy with beating up on the local teams here in upper east tn.

Would you rate Buck a great coach?  He never won one at db.

I would agree that he is a good coach but does indeed seem to disappoint in big games.

Yes he was easily a great coach. If you look back at my post I said a great coach "gets you in the state championship tournament". During the time Van Huss was at DB he had the Indians in the State Tournament more times than any other school in the state. People in Kingsport were making their hotel  reservation's before the season even got started. True, he never won the championship while at DB but everybody had respect for the teams he took. He went in several times with the team to beat. Nobody wanted to face him at the tournament.  He once scheduled the #1 ranked team in the Nation (Louisville Male). And went toe to toe with them before losing in the final minute. I think he was the winningest coach in the Nation at any level at one time?  Yeah, easily a great coach.

Good post. Also something to add to your post about Buck was he did win the 1960 state championship at Hampton High when there were no classifications. That was one if his greatest coaching feats considering the size of a single A school like Hampton.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
