Pickett Co 12 Threes in Half 16 Game

When Pickett Co hit their 12th three pointer in the first half,  the Cannon Co coach turned to the crowd and said something about PC not playing football. And Cannon Co does? They play neither football nor basketball. PC had 16 threes and a 30 point lead...with some subs in. CC closed the gap on PC against the last group of PC subs hitting 3 threes. As for football? Cannon Co has had SIX 0-10 seasons, SIX 1-9 seasons and two 2-8 seasons in the last 20 years. They have had 3 winning seasons...7-5, 6-5 and 6-5. With 195 students it's tough for a small school like PC to have football without a feeder program. The Cannon Co coach should try to improve his team instead of trying to insult PC...a school 1/3 the size of CC.

That’s beautiful.  Thanks for the stats bobcat. We might not play football at Pickett but WE DO PLAY BASKETBALL and we’re pretty good at it. People will keep saying negative things about these kids but they play for each other. I truly don’t believe it matters to any of them who leads the team in scoring as long as they win.  Anybody that watches this team has to leave impressed.

Hard to win a game at the Bobcat Den. Trust me I know from experience! 3 things you can count on when coming to Byrdstown,  Good athletes good coaches and passionate fans. One of the best atmospheres to watch a high school basketball game!

31 threes in a game is the state record set just a few years ago by White County AT Rhea County. The record before that was 23 in a single game.

My son played against them this year in the thanksgiving tournament. Well coached team with great players. When you get players from  different schools that can play it certainly helps. Clay will have their hands full. Love To see them in the state tournament against each other for the championship. We do play a little football in Smith county

      Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year

      That is absolutely not the truth.  Few if any college coaches or school administrators want to be in the middle of legal proceedings if there is any way possible to avoid being caught in the middle.  With that being said I have two questions: 1.  Why would a coach remove any player from the team for using the F WORD?  Yes, I fully understand the player must be held accountable for her actions.  Maybe extra running and even a one game suspension but if every kid or coach that used improper language was kicked on the team or fired, they would have no players or coaches available to play the games. 2.  If there was truly another player or coach that witnessed this situation, and they agree with the player then by all means the coach should be held accountable for their actions.

      Assistant football staff still the same? Any replacement for Brian Beaubien? Who will be the DC? Will there be anything going on this spring with football? I go watch practice often.
