Reporting scores in a timely manner

I find it really pathetic that there are basketball coaches and athletic directors out there that apparently feel it is not important to report your game scores in a timely manner to the various services around the state. Playoffs have started and I'm trying to keep my brackets totally up-to-date Yet there are scores that are still not been reported from Friday's games to the TSSAA, Coach T, and other sources. Due to their ultra early deadlines, you can't count on Gannett owned newspapers in towns like Memphis, Jackson, Nashville and other towns to have the scores either.  It is pretty pathetic in this age of instantaneous information that reporting scores in a timely manner is still an issue.

add Knoxville to your list. They wanted scores by 6:00 which is tough when the games start at either 7:30 or 8:00.

All do respect here, its not a in a coach's job description to report scores. Also, pathetic is a little loose of a term but I'll respect those are your words.  With that being said, I've seen some lack luster reporting by "various services" so I don't see a need for coaches and athletic directors to comply here.  The game gets played, coached, and administrated.  Not sure what else there is to do?  Helping someone get a twitter hit is not on a school admin or coaches list.

I see both sides of this one. If I'm a media guy there is no way I can cover all the games. It just isn't possible. I could work all my contacts and do my best and still miss scores.

On the other side of that, if I'm a coach I think I would have someone designated as the PR guys for after games. Get the word out on my team and individuals who had good games so they can get some PR. I get it is not about getting guys PR but it is nice for a kid to see his / her name in the box score or as a top performer.

I'm not for everybody getting a trophy but I am for recognizing kids and if I were a coach I would get my scores to everybody that I could along with top performers.

Media guys gotta be proactive to get the scores too.

The scores I was looking for were not even reported to the TSSAA web site almost 24 hours after the games were completed. That has to be reported by a school official. I checked every paper, website, various FB pages and an extensive list of Twitter accounts. Each school that hosts a game should assign a coach, AD, administrator,or someone to be responsible for reporting scores at the conclusion of a game.

Most games are reported in a timely manner. It just seems there are a select few schools that like to drag their feet. Just my opinion.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
