I'm looking forward to this season as well, and I think it could be a great one. I agree that it sounds like we're building depth, especially since Cummings doesn't like to play people both ways...but I disagree with you on the Blade analogy. Blade preferred to have 40-45 players on the team and that doesn't lend itself to depth. We will win big tonight...mark it down!  RWR!!!!!!!

Not trying to argue cat, but Blade didn't prefer to have 55, he just didn't put up with anybody that wasn't all in 100% and doing everything required to deserve to wear the uniform.  He didn't like to haul around dead weight "jersey wearers"

I don't agree with you at all, but it doesn't matter. But Cummings wants as many "jersey wearers" as he can find...and I'm glad that he does...we need more players on the team.

agreed.  He has talked several kids into coming out.  One kid had no intention of playing football until coach went and found him in the school, gave him the "you oughta try football spiel".  Now that same kid is starting on our offensive line tonight.  He is recruiting the hallways hard.  But it gives you some insight to the state of our line of scrimmage.  We got a freshmen starting tonight that has never played on a football team.  Yikes.  I hope our fans can be patient.  finally doing all the things that real football teams do and doing things the right way.

I think tonight we'll be fine. I really don't think South Doyle will present much of a challenge, unless their DL is more dominant than I expect them to be. We will overwhelm them with our skilled players and the OL weakness won't figure in at all. I'm a little concerned about the QB situation but playing a weak team game one, will be beneficial to our inexperience at QB.

Everything yall have said is that ur loaded with skill players.  You're talking like you'll have more skill players later.  My experience has always been that they are the ones that make the biggest difference. Point being, Shouldn't you be pretty good now if youre as loaded as you say?

We was loaded with same skill guys last yr and it was one of worst yrs in program history

Oak Ridge lost  the heart and soul of the defense in Bervan. He seemed to have 15-20 tackles a game. Also lost by far their best lineman in E.Hewitt.New coaches and new QB.I just dont get why people think the same skill players minus all we lost equals us being so good all the sudden.I love our new staff but some people acting like he has a magic wand.Just give him time.South Doyle  seems to always finds couple of ATHs to step up and replace the great ones they lose.

Rogers is back and he played a half a season last year. Rembert is a stud and he was at Central last year. Hundley is back and playing offense only, which will make him more effective. Cummings wasn't on the team last year and is a very good athlete (unfortunate injury will keep out 5-6 weeks). Pressly is an excellent receiver from AC who wasn't on the team last year. Heyward will be better than he was a year ago. Linemen Nick Lucas and Elijah Israel were both starters last year and never played due to injuries but are both back. Steed didn't play last year due to injury and he's back (LB). Birdwell missed last year and would've started and he's back. Truitt Tex missed most of last season with an injury and he's back. So they have pretty much all skill players returning, along with some real good transfers, along with all of the linemen they lost to injury last year...that's why I think they'll be so good and will destroy South Doyle. I do worry about the QB inexperience along with inexperience in the OL.  And you are correct about Berven...they will really miss him. Without him and Miner, the defense won't be as good, but that won't show up tonight because South Doyle just can't be very good. Anyway, that's my take

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
