Better days are ahead for the basin.  Hang in there

We have some good groups coming up through little league with the right guidance they could be very good when in high school. I commend all the boys who are out there toughing this season out and I wish them nothing but the best. We really do have some good players who leave everything out there on the field.

I can see Whitwell putting up 40+ this week.  New OC there is trying to make a name for him self and got some talented young kids to help him get it done. 42 - 14

Whitwell is certainly a young but physical team, I’d say their defense doesn’t give up much if anything. I like the way they fly around defensively.

I honestly don’t think they allow 14 and if they do that just says something about whitwell because the final should realistically be around 56-0 for how talented this whitwell team is. With it being in the Copper Pan maybe basin scores 8 late or against the backups in their heavy set where they run straight down your throat hopefully in practice this week more snaps are taken though. I think the players and community are getting restless though hopefully the program is at least maintained. Prayers would seriously be appreciated.

I second every bit of this! Prayers are definitely appreciated for the program!

Whitwell will be the 2 seed and host a playoff game this year.

Whitwell has some good players and they are coached well. I think they could make a push with the Pirates being the only team that will stop them this year. Now next year they might go all the way again. This whitwell team is very similar to the team when the state championship seniors were sophomores.

Hope all kids do well but QB isn’t petty and there is no Stewart or ashworth or #2 not at whitwell and comparing 8th grade 2018 kids are still better and will always. iMO

I said similar, didn’t say exact replicas because some of those kids that was on their team they will never be another one like them graze the doors at whitwell. Not taking anything away from the state team, that was a great group of kids!

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
