How does all those new schools impact everything?

No idea. I would assume just bigger classes? Unless the amount that closed equals or surpasses the new schools. However with 44 new schools, I would guess there will be more schools this cycles than last time. So instead of 83 schools per class, closer to 90? I really have no idea.

Also depends on if they’re co-op or have their own programs

How are the virtual schools counted?

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to figure out. But I'm pretty sure they are only going to count the schools that play that sport for classification. For example, Clarksburg, Big Sandy, Bradford etc.. are pulled out of the list when they do the football numbers.

Example:

Coffee County High School and Coffee County Virtual Academy

Hamilton County Collegiate and Hamilton County Virtual School

Where do the kids enrolled in the virtual school play ball? Do they play at the high school?

Does the virtual school enrollment count on the high school enrollment for classification?

Make Sense/

Yes that makes sense. It’s a good question. I’m really not sure. I was told the virtual school in Jackson was zoned to play at JCM. In that case, I would think you would add the entire enrollment. But idk how they’ll actually do it.

Surely they would have to count them if they are playing at the school. If not, would be easy for schools to drop down a class if that is what they want to do.

There are always schools, usually the same ones, who never get this or any other report in on time.

The TSSAA needs to levy a fine ($2500.00) if someone is late forwarding the numbers to the TSSAA.  There is absolutely no reason that this information should not be in the hands of the TSSAA on time.  After one week of being late the school automatically is placed into the highest classification and may not appeal the process.  Until you make some of the administrators hurt, they are not going to do things in a timely manner.

The fine may work. Idk about playing in the highest classification. Just think the other day Clarksburg was still on the list. Put them in 4A and who is really getting punished. They either go to Clarksville or Memphis. Prolly forfeit all their away games and then those teams have to travel 2 hrs to play a team their freshman could handle by 60. So idk how that would work out. Then you deal with safety issues in football.

Please, let’s stop with all of the hypothetical negative issues with making a team play up in classifications due to the school “not reporting the enrollment numbers” in a timely manner.  With the technology that is available today a secretary should be able to provide the necessary enrollment numbers in less than five minutes.  Until you hold these administrators accountable like they want to hold the teachers & students accountable you will always have problems.

Ok I’ll break it down for you, fining a school for failing to comply=not a bad idea.

Having schools as small as 120 kids play travel 2-3 hours to play football against schools with 2500 kids is not only a terrible idea, it’s the most unrealistic proposal imaginable.
So if you wanna talk hypotheticals, then let’s at least keep it within the realm of possibility.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
