So every school wether it has an enrollment of 100 or 1200......if in an open enrollment county...... which is about 80% of the counties, and say a city within that county is larger than say 15k, we bump them up to play 6a football. A quick example of Blount Co, Lincoln Co, Robertson Co, Sumner Co, Davidson Co: So East Robinson, Greenback, Greenbrier, East Nashville, Pearl Cohn, Eagleville, Fayetteville , Jo Byrns, Westmoreland "every school in Sumner",Portland, Whitehouse, Greenbrier, Watertown, Monterey, Upperman all need to play 6a football and 4a in everything else with Oakland and Riverdale? All so the folks in say Clay County don't fell like they are at such a disadvantage. Seems sorta like a bad system to me. UpperCumberlandMan
When I played, 3 classes. Straight off enrollments. No privates, just straight numbers. Had to win your district to make the playoffs, the rest of the teams with winning records played in bowl games. Now we have jumped from 3 classes to 9 classes, separated the private and magnet school from the public schools, and allow 4 teams from each district into the playoffs. I don't know how much more we can chop it up to get folks from getting thier feelings hurt. It's water down about as much as it can be. But also the demographics of say a Trousdale compared to say Jackson County might be viewed as a huge advantage for Yellow Jackets. Or the ability for say a Macon to raise 20k from the big Tabbaco money to pay a top coach to come in, but maybe a Cannon County doesn't have thst option. Like I said....we have 9 divisions in Football....how many more do we need to make sure no ones feelings get hurt on other schools advantages? u have no clue what your talking about! . your not even remotely close and u wanta why i know cause i was involved in it. Your figure is not even close way off! try half that on the backer money. Edited October 4, 2022 by mofojoe

Cookeville and Monterey get the scraps in every sport. Upperman plays 6A football and 4A basketball/baseball vs small county schools that can’t consistently produce the talent to compete with them. I guess I should have been more clear. My question was about Macon county. You're talking about football but as was mentioned Upperman has had a very strong baseball program since the late 70's. Basketball has been solid off and on for years. Why has it suddenly became and issue? the last few years.

Enrollment is about the only way you can classify them. Can't quantify so called advantages and disadvantages into what class a schools plays in as long as they do it by the rules. Indian
In a 2 year alignment, wish they would have considered a merit based/enrollment mix. If it flopped, go back to all enrollment.
