89-6 last 2 games against CF.

Not to be ugly Rt i know you guys ate young but thats the worst CF team I've seen in 15 years and you STILL mercy ruled us.

Yeah, I know we aren't that great right now as are you all but I believe the future will be bright.  We playing a lot of young guns right now.  We are very young at the corners on D and it has showed when teams can throw.

I find that hard to believe. Veteran QB, speed everywhere, big sought after OL, very well coached, where are they so bad? I've only watched 2 CF games this year so maybe I missed something but I thought this was a pretty good team this year.

Which two games did you watch? Maybe it was just the teams you saw them play?

Yes I can see the youth and the skills arent bad but we both know up front is where you win the games that count. You all will struggle with OZ unless you throw it alot and your coach has the balls to do that.We on the other hand have tons of players not even touching the ball. When we do like our #14 last night he makes plays!

7-1 and probably will be 9-1. They mauled everyone on their schedule except for Wartburg and Gordonsville and it looks like they are one of the best teams in the state. They probably average in the 40's on offense and probably around 10 points per game on defense. I admit the schedule has been soft but it's 1A football. Just seems like they have all the pieces to be a very good team. Are they weak upfront? I saw the mention of young corners but they haven't been scored on that much other than GHS. I'm just surprised is all.

I have been apart of Coalfield/Greenback since 1985.I have seen very good Coalfield teams and bad Coalfield teams. This one is young and the line play last night wasnt as good as usual. They are a small bunch also all over the field. It might do you some good to go actually see a game instead of internet watching and you might understand.Oakdale is not the team they were built up to be either.A typical well coached GB teams wins that game last night and OS.We are in a dark place right now.We played bad last night and was in that game till our wheels fell off because WE CANNOT SCORE!

9-1 doesnt make you a good team when your region is pitiful as ours.Gordy whipped them good and then struggles against JB the next week.CF has a great shot at the Semis this year if they can handle OSs size NO DOUBT but that because everyone around here is not very good.Cloudland is on their last leg with injuries, we more than likely will miss the playoffs because we dont play Sunbright again.:thumb:The East has 3 good teams as of now Gordy,Pitt and Clay all who will beat CF by 21 at least in the playoffs. As I said I'm just starting what I saw last night maybe CF was over confident and will walk the dog from here out.Of they do then I will recap my thoughts. But anyone who knows me knows I just tell you like I saw it.Ive been wrong before.

I just asked what games you watched them play? Was curious what competition you saw that you based your assessment on. I know their record and box scores.

Rt good luck with your young team,at least you are winning. That alone is something to build on,we are quickly learning how to accept being a bottom dweller!!I like how you always support your team when everyone else creeps off.Until we meet again!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
