New Districts and Regions Are Out (pending vote)

Some big changes in  multiple classes.

A - Union City, Dresden, Gleason, Greenfield in one district.  Two of those teams probably go to state tournament every year with this setup.  McKenzie and Wayne County - two of the best A programs in the last couple years are in the same region but should still be favorites to go to state tournament as biggest substate challenger is probably Moore Co

AA - BIG win for Huntingdon.  They get away from Gibson Co and Westview.  Huntingdon should win that region most years and host a substate game.  Gibson Co and Westview have to deal with Peabody in district but their region is terrible.  They also head back to Memphis for substate so the road is definitely easier.  Loretto and Summertown will have no challengers in district or region.

AAA -  Lawrence County district becomes winnable but region is still all the way to Upper Cumberland.  Region 6 is crazy big - all the way from Jackson South Side to Sycamore (nearly 3 hours away).  Really interesting district with Dyersburg, Dyer Co, Crockett Co, Obion Co and South Gibson.  They have a weak region and the only traditional substate challenger is Covington.

Macon County is the big winner here, lol. They’d be battling for district championship if it was changed for this season. They’ll be lucky to win 2-3 district games in  7 AAA this year.

Lol no kidding. Macon has more appearances in the Championship game that the rest of that Region combined has state tournament appearances, and they have a talented but very young group of girls coming up. They romp through this district if they are 1/3 as good as the 2020 or 2021 teams

The sophomore class and below will feast in the upcoming years. Almost a guaranteed trip to sub state.

Great input. Lots of West TN girls teams will be going to the state tournament as a result of the reclass. Loretto, and Summertown will go back and forth on the district and region championships and both go to the state tournament every year. Only challenge for them is... well... them. Huntingdon may be able to compete in region but probably not.

Top 4 teams from District 13 AAA will be the top four teams in that region. The two teams that make it to the region championship cake walks to state.  NOTE: one of the hardest districts/regions and substate in the state on the boys side. WOW

agree - McKenzie and Wayne County go to state every year.

Region 7A will be a little more balanced.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
