Let’s play the game somewhere warmer if it’s going to be that bad.

Yeah, the weather is not looking good. High Friday of 41, low that night of 22.

Reminds me of a playoff game Covington played at Dyersburg probably 20 or so years ago. It was cold like that, but also spitting sleet and snow. When I left that game, we drove toward Louisville to see Memphis play the Cardinals the next day. It was cold and snowy there too.

Dyersburg hasn't lost since the last time they played Covington and guess what, it doesn't matter! Dyersburg has basically played inner city Memphis teams since they last matched up, Ripley & Millington pretty much fit that mold too. This is not going to be a game, definitely not worth spending money and sitting in the cold for. Build up all the hype you want for this game, but Covington wins by at least 3 TDs! :thumb:

No hype built sir! Everybody on here pretty much agree with you.

Covington in a rout! Coaching matters this time of year an Stowe ain't it!

Well, I think Covington can win, but will argue with you about the coaching.

Last year at this same point in the playoffs, Dyersburg beat Covington. Same two coaches this year. There are two differences this year.

First, this game is in Covington switching the home-field advantage to the Chargers.

Second, Dyersburg graduated a strong senior class, and is much younger this year.

You are correct about your two points especially the second one. In fact Dyersburg returned zero starters from last years defense. They will bring back most everyone next year. Doesn’t Covington graduate a lot this year?  Seems like the roles may be reversed next year.

What you say is true. Im not trying to ruffle feathers but the difference is Dyersburg has a big downturn in performance when talent is a little down or young. Im sure Covington graduated some key players last year. Some coaches seem to rely on talent to carry them. Just my opinion.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
