Wildcats looked pretty good tonight, I was fairly impressed. Super impressed with the lack of penalties, they just look like a more disciplined team. I know it was just a scrimmage, but after watching last year’s team, that was extremely undisciplined, it was refreshing to see. Really good to see all my old Mairvul pals - RW, RedRebels, RebRon, STARS, and Barney. Great to see y’all, and thanks for the hospitality.

Good to see you also. I have a feeling Oak Ridge will go far in the playoffs. Derek Rang has made a difference in Oak Ridge.

Oak Ridge scrimmaged Greeneville up to Jefferson City today Cats won 14 - 13. It was one quarter of play.   JV's didn't do so well, they lost but had a good learning experience.

My take on it. Both offensive lines looked great. Probably a slight edge toward G’s. Both defensive lines looked great. G’s run defense maybe a slight edge. OR’s 2 TD’s came from passing plays. G’s 2 TD’s one from a run and the other from a pass, but failed to covert the extra point. Pass coverage I give the slight edge to OR. Not sure what the exact time was left on the clock after OR scored the 2nd TD, but I believe it was a little over a minute. G drives all the way down to around the 7 to 5 yard line with approx. 32 seconds left on the clock and if I remember correctly that drive consisted of mostly running, maybe one pass. Anyhow, G’s got the ball down at around the 7 to 5 yard line and I think it was 1st and goal with approx. 32 secs left on the clock. Instead of of trying to run/punch it in, it’s a pass. The kid from OR was reading it all the way and comes across the goal line and intercepts the pass. The failed extra point on G, and the interception by OR was the difference.

I thought OR looked different than what they had looked like the past 2 season. They Looked disciplined and confident. QB has good arm and I think he’s going to be able to manage the game well. Is his name Dozer; that kid is elusive. Yes, I know it was just 1qtr, but from my perspective based on what I saw tonight, I think OR’s going to be hard to handle and who knows they may end up at the top when it’s all said and done. Both teams looked really good. Looking forward to the season. Have a great weekend everyone.

I thought the offense continues to look good, at this point it is ahead of the defense. Pass coverage and secondary tackling need to get better. We have a new kicker but his extra points were the difference, punting definately needs work.

Good quality opponent in Greeneville, which may be a tick down from the two previous teams, but have a good core of players and I am sure they will be there at playoff time.

I think this G team is going to better than their last 2. This OR team to me looked night and day different from their last 2. What I saw was a confident OR team and more disciplined. Not sure how many kids OR graduated from last year, but you could tell this team had a new coach. I would not be surprised if OR makes a lot of noise in 5a this season.

One quarter=  Possible state champs.  Oak Ridge optimism never dies, but you've set them up on this one.

It really bulls down to how you interpret/read into things. 1st of all I never mentioned those words SC; you did above.  Optimism/positivity is good, keep spreading it and maybe it will catch fire :thumb:

Is there a different "End up on top when it's all said and done" than state champs?  If so, how did I miss it?

Appreciate the compliments! And great handle, btw. I don’t think anyone is crowning us state champs, by any means, but as you said, we are playing with a lot more confidence and discipline. If ILB saw us in person, he would agree. I’m never one to go around tooting my own horn (OR’s in this case), but even I can tell a big improvement on how things are being done there, even if we are just talking about discipline alone. That alone has been a big hindrance to our teams the past few years. The discipline as a whole was awful the past few years, as you saw with your own eyes.
