TN wrestlers within the D1 Ranks Performing Well

Cleveland alum Trae McDaniel at West Point.  It looks as though he has worked himself into the starting lineup at 149 and currently has a 27-9 record.  At one point this season he was on a 16 match win streak.  Really impressed with with what he is accomplishing and it looks as though more is to come.  

Brayden Palmer at UTC. Brayden has proven to be one of our state's best.  Hopefully he can break through and become a NCAA qualifier this year.  

Any others at the D1 level that have impressed you guys or have winning records?  

Obviously Cody Chittum is on the horizon at Iowa.

McDaniel has been phenomenal. He’s been in and out of the top 25 this year. 

Keyveon Roller has also done great at UVA and is starting at 133lbs.

I haven’t seen Roller in any of the ACC duals at 133.

Roller got his 5 events without affecting redshirt, looking good in some tight matches.

Nice.  Good for him.  I really hope UVA can elevate their program.  It would be good for the ACC overall.

Very few true freshmen do well their first season of NCAA D1 wrestling and most need to redshirt.  Even the top kids in the country typically struggle if they are forced to wrestle a difficult schedule.  As an example, just look at how Casey Swiderski has done this season at Iowa State.
