Coaches come and go all the time. We as a community hate to see Coach Benson (Milan), and Coach Cobb(Trenton) leave because they had a great rapport with the kids. With the recent success of the Rebels comes new job opportunities for the supporting staff. Now the new Coach is in place and building a firm foundation for the future. How do you think picking up Coach Benson will affect y' all's program @BIGPURPLEMACHINE

He will be working with the D line among other duties. Milan was good last year defensively when teams tried to get the edge or get vertical. However we struggled when teams ran right at us. I think he will help in that regard. We need to be more aggressive and physical up front.

I know they came to Milan for a 4 way with Milan, USJ and one other team. Not sure who that was or how anyone did. Sorry.

South Side. I heard South Side beat McKenzie edit: “and” Milan but got hammered by USJ. But I wasn’t there.

Who did you get your information from?

I was told  - Mckenzie outscored Humboldt , Milan, Crockett Co and was outscored by USJ in the 7on 7's. The person I talked to close to the Mckenzie program did not mention South Side.

The first 7vs7 was held at Crockett County's new turf field. Where Fayette Academy and Humboldt also participated. McKenzie outscored all of them opponents. The 2nd 7vs7 was Held at Milan with McKenzie, USJ, and South Side participated. McKenzie outscored all except for USJ. McKenzie for some reason pulled first string out and put in their second string against USJ.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
