Good observation, in general the DNA in NET 5A/6A just does not compare to DNA in Knox County & beyond.        One possible exception is Science Hill, there are years they have athletes all over the field but for whatever reason can't get it together as a team.       I believe that in a lot of cases the NET 5A/6A guys play as hard as they can but they are outmanned from the start.

It's coaching dang it. What they've done at Greeneville and Elizabethton tells the story. Greeneville and Elizabethton used to be just like DB, Science Hill and Boone. Couldn't beat anybody past Knoxville. Take the coaching staffs from Greeneville or Elizabethton, put them at DB, Science Hill or Boone and in 3 or 4 years they'd be playing for a state championship. DNA don't know the difference in 4A, 5A, and 6A.

The athleticism of your players probably means more than coaching. Look at Maryville, you think Derek Hunt just got out coached this season? Or is it because he doesn’t have a field of division 1 talent for the first time in his career? No knock to their current players, they’re still a hard nosed good football team. The fact is, coaching makes the difference in less outcomes of games than you think. It matters, no doubt about it, but sometimes your guys are just outmanned by size, strength, speed, etc.

Wanna make a "ban" bet? Loser quits posting. Gotta hand it to ya tho. You're a real cocky Bears fan. Over cocky, but a true fan.

I know you won't make the best, just do us all a favor. The game will be close, but if Maryville wins, don't disappear on the board. Come take your beating.

Same to you… wanna bet all maryville does it run run run run run the ball the entire game and get stuffed stuffed and sacked just like they did first time and just  bearden? Hey I’ll give it to em… it works on teams that don’t have D1 defensive players LMBO!!!!! won’t pass because they know it’ll get picked. That type of playing only works sometimes

    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with county’s with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
    • It will be interesting to see if the Warren County School District allows this to go before a jury or they settle out of court before going to trial.  My guess is that this case never goes to trial.  If this goes before a jury, they could award even more than the $750K.  I was on a jury where they were asking for 185K and were awarded 1.2 million.  You never know what will happen in that jury room.
