Teams That Have Been Pleasant Surprises

Gimme your nominations as teams that have surprised you with their stellar play in the first half of the 2002-03 season.

 

My choice is Morristown East. At the break, the Hurricanes have won seven straight and are 8-2 on the season.

 

The team has several players averaging double figures in scoring while playing outstanding defense.

I beleive Lookout Valley has surprised alot of people.coming off a loss to Silverdale Baptist on the first game of the year and then losing to Central the game after that. Aftre losing one more to Ringgold won8 straight and came to win the Sequatchie Valley Classic Tournament at Whitwell making them 10-3 and 20th in the state.

I believe Beech has been a pleasant surprise! Last year they went 13-18, two years ago they were 3-20, and this year they are 10-0, way to go guys!!!!

Waverly has been a pleasant surprise this season. This year lead by a sophmore point guard. 7-1 7 straight wins after opening night lose. they are really on a roll

Lexington High School in West Tennessee has started strong -- 10-3; They have a balanced team and are plenty deep. Couple of the freshmen boys are going to be forces to be reckoned with. Good coach, too.

oh cmon guys. celinas guys, after a decade of overall mediocre play at best, has become a legitimate threat.they are currently 11-2 and are rolling. watch out.

i think the lexington tigers have really been a suprise to most teams in west tenn b/c they had their first winning season in thirteen years last year and now they are 10-3 and just handed perry co their first loss of the season. look for the tigers to be in contention during postseason play

The eagles lost 7 seniors from last year's 28-7 district championship squad. They were only returning one player with any varsity experience. They are currently 7-3 and have beaten Adamsville. No one could have expected this fast start.

A team that I was impressed with last week @ Smyrna's Christmas Tournament was Hunters Lane High School. They ripped through three pretty good teams en route to the championship there. I thought they were well coached, played extremely hard and smart along the way. I know they are in a tough district but they could be a factor!

Munford Cougars have won 10 in a row after an opening night loss and are 10-1 heading into district play.

Hey coachdm, The Cougars might be surprising everyone else but surely you and I had a feeling they could be good this year. Last night they easily handled Daryl Sommerset and the Bolton Wildcats. Good Luck Cougars.
