This should be an interesting hire for metro. Will they stay within the system or will they go outside (the state of Tennessee) and hire like the school board did when they hired Garcia? McGavock would be a plum job for a coach with the right personality. For this to be a great job the principal must be 100% in support of athletics, and not just giving free lip service. The facilities at McGavock need to be upgraded in a bad way.

McGavock should be a powerhouse every year. The biggest problem they have had over the years is that the best talent at the school doesn't play football. Get a qualified coach that knows how to motivate and encourage youngsters to compete, and give him the support from the administration he needs to build the program.

The biggest problem with McGavock is that the best neighborhood talent goes to DCA. The people in the Donelson/Hermitage area that feeds McGavock want a small community school and many of them have opted to send their kids to another school until Metro gives them what they want. With the Bellevue and Hermitage areas being the fastest growing areas in Davidson County someone needs to lisiten to what the communities want and need.

Mcgavock has a successfull ex-head coach on staff now, with the respect of the players and other assistant coaches. Bubba Spears has the football smarts, and the people skills that are needed to turn this program around. WAIT, too easy , and it makes sense. HOPE Tribue and Brunette will not screw it up , after being witness to the last 2 hires.

This Coach Spears name keeps apearing for any metro head football opening. I was told he left a head coaching position in metro to become an assistant. True? Why did he do that????

Principal [DILL], would not help in getting quality assistant coaches. The --- anybody can coach attitude was too much to work with, so he left.

Yall must be on crack!!! Bubba Spears can't coach and never could. The next head coach at Big Mac will be Dorris Armstrong. Thats right, Mike Tribue will not go by politics or "whosyourbuddy", he's gonna hire a REAL FOOTBALL COACH and allow the program to return to a high level.

Watch for Metro to continue to go with the youth movement and hire assistant Arcentae Broome to be the next head coach. He played for Spears at Stratford and at TSU. He has strong community ties with the areas the players are coming from. He is young, energetic, and well-respected by the players. Mark it down.
