Actually your thinking of Felipe Lopez, who was a first round draft pick and playing in the NBA. He may not have lived up to Michael Jordan comparisons, but hey, he has a pretty good gig. "Pepe" Sanchez was Temple's star point gaurd.

I'll bet very few youth even know what wampum is... unless they took my early American History class a couple of years back.

 

"Green stamps" was a promotional item that were given out at retail stores around the country for over forty years. When you purchased something, you earned green stamps. The "Green Stamp Store" would supply you with "Green Stamp Books" to collect them... when you collected enough books of stamps, you could redeem them for telephones, toaster ovens, etc.

He didn't have more hype than Garnett. He may have had more hype than Kobe, and he did have more hype than Stoudemire, but that's no different from the Jets having more hype than the Arizona Cardinals. Lopez is from the city that considers itself the only city IN the universe and will hype itself to no end.

 

His hype from real basketball people was considerably less than Garnett, Kobe, and several others.
