Should TSSAA do ALL Scheduling for High School Tea

You can forget about any possibility of the TSSAA trying to tackle the insurmountable job of scheduling any sport for any school. They do not the the resources, desire nor the inclination to tackle this. What you are asking is absurd!

You need to get over your childish feelings toward the Rhea County coaching staff and their record. It's apparent from your post that you are still a student (poor one at that) or your failed to graduate.

Let every school and coach schedule their own teams to play whoever they like outside of their district games. The true strength of the team will be re-enforced or revealed come tournament time.

By the way, the Rhea boys have some outstanding talent in Josh Smith, Zach Hyatt, James Garmany, Rob Howse and Corey Gillespie as starters. Along with Josh Owensby and Josh Jenkins coming off the bench. It's not their fault that they are in a district with two powerhouse teams that could also kick most anyone's butt in any district besides 5AAA.

I looked at Rhea's schedule, and it looked like some of the "terrible' teams they played were nearby county schools which usually can bring a lot of fans. You also need to remember nearly always a doubleheader is played so some of the games maybe were scheduled to benefit the girls. Rhea beat Notre Dame, lost by 5 to Bradley and finished 3rd in a very good AAA district, so why are you on here rying about their non district schedule? Obviously it didn't hurt them. And posting under a variety of names and talking to yourself is stupid.

The TSSAA can waive that rule under certain circumstances...I know there are some tournaments where they play the semis and finals on the same day, and one of the Memphis AAA districts, I don't remember which, had to play their semis and finals on the same day this weekend due to weather.

I doubt if they played twice in the day. There are many schools on coacht's schedule that show two games in the same day. Most of this was due to the games that were re-scheduled due to the weather. It is okay two play two games in the same day during certain tournaments that are not part of the official post-season TSSAA sanctioned games.

Also, in reply to the other post about Josh Jenkins. A player can move and be eligible the next year if he/she physically changes addresses. Johnson City is about 150 miles apart. I doubt that Josh is commuting back and forth each day.

Go GOLDEN EAGLES!!!!

That is the stupidist thing I have ever heard. Next you will want parents to make practice plans for the coach to run. Then lets the kids pick out school colors every year. How about Co-ed basketball? and Everyone gets to play the same amount of time,,,Like rec league...Quit Crying about Rhea County....Brien is a good coach who had a bad run in his touugh district (which is tough)....

DGeneral, you're right -- the numbers don't lie. If you examine the scores from Rhea County's schedule, you'll find that they only lost one district game by more than 13 points (with that loss coming to a Bradley Central team that they lost to by only 5 in the tourney). Granted, they a loss is a loss, but the reasonably close games against strong teams such as Cleveland and Bradley indicate that these guys are not a bad basketball team. Thus, it took more than an easy schedule to give them their impressive record.

That is not a bad idea, but just imagine how tedious and agonizing this process would be. Scheduling games for every team would take a very long time, require many more employees, and stir much dissention among member schools.

Another issue to consider: if the TSSAA scheduled every team's games, they would have to pay their travel expenses. If teams had no control over where they played their away games, they would protest paying the fees to travel where they did not choose to go in the first place. And judging from the state of affairs right now, I don't think the TSSAA could come NEAR accomplishing this task.

Thus, while it is theoretically a good idea, the logistics would make it impossible. Teams will still choose their games, and the strength of schedule will be up to the wisdom of the coaches and school administration.

    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
