NightStalker
After reading the posts from NE Tennessee I thought it would be good to get input from people in Middle Tennessee. What does everyone think?
FrankL
Coach Pitts - Brentwood Academy Coach Smith - Battle Ground Academy Coach Bontrager - Father Ryan [Edited by FrankL on 4-6-03 9:51P]
DrCross
FrankL all good selections. Gary Smith is probably the most underated in the group. Bontrager is the coach from Father Ryan. Another underated coach that would go in that group is Belliford from USN. But what about the public school guys? Here's my list. Metro: Winston Gamble-Maplewood, Jim Nollner-Whites Creek, Troy Allen-Hillsboro, James Shelton-MLK, Kelly Harned-Hume-Fogg. Midstate: Dennis King-Brentwood, Randy King-Oakland, Kevin Woodson-Blackman, Doug Kiel-Warren Co., Randal Hutto-Lebanon and Bobby Luna-Gallatin. PantherGam
Doc Shelton, he has won two state championships. Hard to beat that, but thanks for the respect DR. Cross.
WesVLT
I strongly agree with the inclusion of Hume Fogg's Kelly Harned in the list. Not only is Coach Harned a fabulous basketball coach, but also an impactful leader. I am privileged to be in his Sunday School class, and enjoy talking God and baskeball with him. He is a talented teacher and a great man.
cobrafan90
west from h'ville has a bright future ahead of him.
modincus
How did you come up with that one? The rest of your list is solid but I would add Johnny Jackson at Cheatham Co. and McWilliams at Upperman. Those are quality people that WORK at the game and have respect for it. Opperman
Kerry West from Hendersonville is a great coach. I absolutely loved watching his team play.
bigchief
Now that Mike Roller has resigned at Lipscomb, the title of best coach in Middle Tennessee is up for grabs. As far as making the most of the TALENT you have, nobody, repeat nobody has done better.
ruppsrunt
For once I will agree. The only one of the Lipscomb coaches with any people skills.
