TSSAA Playoff Possibilities

Just a note for everyone...

 

T.S.S.A.A. is working on playoff possibilities for all classes. As of 10-11 a.m. this morning, at least 1-A and 2-A were posted. There is a link on their home page to the information, it appears they are updating it as they receive them.

3A still isn't done and I'm sure it's all Region 4's fault. If you guys would quit losing to each other they'd be done with that thing by now.

Seems like they're going fairly fast compared to years past. They're all pretty simple though besides Region 4 and Region 8 in 3A.

A little insight into the process.

 

Over the weekend following Week 9, I find myself a reasonably quiet place with Internet access. (This year, it was the Fairfield Inn and Suites, Atlanta Midtown.) Pulling out my trusty iBook, I get what scores I can from the Week 9 games, and enter them into a chess-tournament program. This allows me to get a visual representation of the head-to-head pictures. From there, it's mostly a fairly simple matter of inputting each combination, eyeballing the grid to see what the result is, and recording it in a text editor. (The records look a lot like the final possibilities you see, but in a compact notation.) In some cases, there may be shortcuts possible, such as where a team has the head-to-head over anyone who can catch it. In others, more extreme measures may be required, including tracking down Mississippi records :

 

Anyway, all that gets packed into an e-mail to Hermitage, where Bob Baldridge opens it on the chosen day. Earl Nall also shows up with his copy. I don't know their methods, but in the end, they compare their results to mine, double-check any discrepancies, and post them.
