Do you think Crockett Co. is overrated?

GBT57 and Volfan911,

This post had dropped to the bottom of page 3 and I could have just not replied to your response, but I realize I was wrong and I humbly apologize for the wording I chose earlier today. It was just an attitude that came over me after I was reading the boards and I got into a defensive mode. I had been reading threads (by a couple of zealous Crockett fans) referring to the presumed "overrating" of Crockett and was reading the picks for state championships and it appears that several people are already assuming Crockett will win it (which they very well may,) and that struck me wrong. It appears that nobody is even considering Greenbrier is capable of winning against Crockett and (as Crockett probably knows), after years of no respect, its tough when your team goes out and wins the region, does all these great things, and still doesn't even get a nod.

I guess I was doing what I was complaining about. I hope you'll both accept my apology. I have edited my previous post.

GreenbrierCat2-

Trust me, you have the respect of most Crockett Co. fans. No one should be over looking the bobcats. To be honest, I wish this thread would just die out...I think this topic has been beat to death. :D No one at this point can be called overrated or should be overlooked.

Looking foward to a great game.

GreenbriarCat,

It seems as though Greenbriar's program is on the right path to becoming one of the premier teams in 3A year-in-year-out. Bottom line: they're winning. The longer both programs keep winning, the less fans have to worry about respect. Crockett County has been in the top ten in the state for the past 5 seasons (aside from '99 when we were just outside the top ten - lost in second round to Milan, the state champs that year) and we're just now starting to get state-wide respect.

Regardless of whether Greenbriar wins or loses, this is two consecutive third round appearances and people are going to take note. You'll start seeing Greenbriar get more preseason hype and you'll have more players chosen for All Region and All State. I've been witnessing the respect grow each year. Before Coach Pratt came to Crockett County 7 years ago, we were one of the worst programs in the state. Funny how enthusiastic, motivated coaches can breath so much life into a community just by teaching high school kids to win at football. It's sure made the Fall so much more enjoyable here in Crockett County.

I see more than one thread from somebody from Crockett asking "do you think we're overrated?"  "Do you STILL think we're overrated?"  Reminds me of the cell phone commercial repeating "can you hear me now? --- well, how bout NOW? --- How bout NOW?" incessantly.

YES, Crockett County, we hear you.  We know you are good.  We know you are 12-0.  We respect what you've done up to this point.  BUT, Greenbrier is good too.  This will be a hard fought game for both sides, but I'll have to go with the Bobcats.

    • All high school coaching postions are year to year. At least in public schools.
    • Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year
    • That is absolutely not the truth.  Few if any college coaches or school administrators want to be in the middle of legal proceedings if there is any way possible to avoid being caught in the middle.  With that being said I have two questions: 1.  Why would a coach remove any player from the team for using the F WORD?  Yes, I fully understand the player must be held accountable for her actions.  Maybe extra running and even a one game suspension but if every kid or coach that used improper language was kicked on the team or fired, they would have no players or coaches available to play the games. 2.  If there was truly another player or coach that witnessed this situation, and they agree with the player then by all means the coach should be held accountable for their actions.
    • 1st round exit?        For real ?!?!?!                     Oh wait.....    are we talking band or football?
    • Assistant football staff still the same? Any replacement for Brian Beaubien? Who will be the DC? Will there be anything going on this spring with football? I go watch practice often.
