does anyone know who votes for this team? coaches? journalists?

what is the criteria?

I am not familiar with d cranford of johnson county but since he was voted defensive player of the year I have no doubt he's an excellent player

but behind him you have b fanney who was a finalist for 4a defensive mr football and was so very instrumental in getting his team to murfreesboro

bloodscanner,

My understanding is that this is strictly a sportswriters poll, from I think eight (8) different newspapers...Kingsport, Greeneville, Morristown, Rogersville, Sevierville, Jefferson City, Mountain City, and maybe Johnson City? I think the top vote getter received 18 votes, so evidently there is more than one vote per paper...I just don't know the true complete facts...but the Fanney vote is certainly questionable at best...Cedric Hodge of D-B didn't even get one vote and was one of the leading tacklers for the Indians, 2nd team All-Big East...

I am sure there are a lot of fine players who didn't get their just do...and congratulations to those who did get selected, even with flaws, it is an honor to be recognized.

There was a chart in the Times-News showing the first team and another chart that had the second team and honorable mention, both illustrating the number of votes received by each player.

I was wrong on the papers I previously listed, The Elizabethton Star, not the J.C. Press, was the eighth paper involved.

Where is this chart you talk about. What about some more guys from Greeneville. Andy McCall and Randy King killed the defensive lineman from Morristown East and that lineman from Betsy is a joke. A sophomore beat him play after play, anybody looks good when they double team somebody. Ask Morristown West's D-Line about that right side of Greeneville's line. Oh Well it happens.

    • Catholic North will provide them both a decent contest Booger just sayin
    • Well personally I see us going 9-1 so that isn't doom and gloom to me , Most people are thinking 6-4. Bearden will be the possible loss but hoping not. I was very impressed with what I saw this spring.
    • the kid you are speaking about, played in JV games,  2H half Science Hill game, split time in Hardin Valley and Bearden and that was it.   The upcoming Senior RB was All Region as a Junior and is regarded by the media as one of the top running backs in East TN for 2024 season. Scouting services have him as a top 10 back in the state.  Something aint adding up with gloom and doom. Maybe he was hurt and not at spring practice when you watched?
    • It won't be long now, he gone.
    • Are you kidding me?  You are just trolling now.  The new head coach's qualifications would be volunteer coach at the Oak Ridge Boys Club?  C'mon man, you can't be serious.  You're trolling us.  Anybody working at Clinton High School has to be like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs at this point.  They are coming after anybody and everybody that had knowledge of what was going on.  This is about to get real ugly.  Only in Clinton.
