At Franklin they origionallly said that everyone would have 2 pounds and 2 teams claimed they didn't get the message and thought there was 2 pounds. When we got there they said we got 2 pounds.

 

2 pound allowance then no allowance then 2 pound allowance = angry coaches.

 

My kids were on scratch weight, and so where most of the other teams.

 

And I'm having to do the same thing at my tournament.

 

Should I tick off TSSAA or the other coaches?

If TSSaa says you have to go with scratch weight you should go with scratch weitght. Just personally conact every team rather than relying on an e-mail or fax. This gives the kids one more opportunity to certify at scratch weight. Many kids would have loved to drink a 32 oz. bottle of gatorade last night rather than sleeping half dehydrated and finding out that they could have weighed 2 lbs. more.

I am thinking if I have 12 or 16 teams and two of those didnt get the message but the far majority did, TSSAA has little to do with it. This is the tournament director's call.

I tend to believe that it is the TSSAA's call rather than the tournament director's call. Follow the TSSAA rules. If in question, call the state office and ask. Marvel gave sound advice. If you change the allowance, call each coach and give him the change personally. Do not rely on anyone else's giving him the info. It will take time, involving more that one call to some numbers, but it will insure (if you reach everybody) that correct information is where it needs to be. And the experience will encourage you to come up with a means not to allow your tournament or yourself to be placed in that situation again.
