I think the multiplier answers all questions between public and private.....let's take all those private school and double their numbers....make them play with kids that don't exist....an invisible team...how can that be allowed to hapen.....maybe we can offer those imaginary kids imaginary scholarships.......we've finally hit rock bottom.....

If this happens it will be a big boost for the Class A public schools. They have been the ones to suffer all these years. I hope it happens because it will even the playing field somewhat.

The average private school has twice as many kids on their team as the average public school, at least at the 1A level, which is only one of many advantages they have. I did say AVERAGE, so please no examples of exceptions to this rule, there are exceptions to every rule. We all know this, we don't need it pointed out by some know-it-all. Of which there are a multitude lurking about on this site.

I have a question about this multiplier. How did the TSSAA determine that only "urban" public schools in the 4 big cities in TN would be under a 1.25 multiplier? What is the purpose for this? Is it to level the playing field somewhat? What about a school like Maryville that is not in Knoxville, but has dominated in 4A football? Will Maryville fall under the 1.25 multiplier? If not, then how does this level the playing field? You'll have 4A teams from big cities (i.e. Hillsboro, Knox Central, Melrose, etc.) that will be moved up to 5A, but Maryville will stay at 4A while all their competition is moved up a class. Am I missing something here?

Maryville is a city school system that would have their enrollment multiplied by 1.25. They would be treated the same as the schools in the major counties.

Maryville is an open zoned school and should be multiplied as such. However if the multiplier still leaves them in 4A then so be it. The multiplier should not focus on ant one team. It should be determined by what is fair. The same goes for private schools. The multiplier should not be set for the sole purpose of moving up any specific school.

I do have a question for anyone who is familiar with the situation. Are all big city schools going to be multiplied just because they are in the city or is it just those that accept kids from other zones?

Does it matter? Are there any public schools in Shelby, Williamson, Davidson, Knox and Hamilton counties that are not open enrollment. Are their any city system schools that do not have open (or tuition) enrollment.

Jackson does not. Except for their two magnet schools. I don`t think a school like JCM, Northside or Southside should have multiplier simply because they are in a city. Liberty and Madison are the ones that have an open zone. They are the ones getting student athletes from the other schools. If a multiplier is used then it needs to be a higher one for magnet schools.

Agree or disagree?

NO 5-A schools in Williamson County (Franklin, Brentwood, Centennial, Ravenwood) are zoned for open enrollement. Neither is Page HS. Fairview has historically been open-zoned. The open zone requests change from year to year. This year, Fairview may request to drop open zone, while others have that option.

The only way you get to go to a school in Williamson County outside of your zone is if you are a teacher in one school and your children are zoned for another, or if you are coming from a private school and have moved.

Let's say the multiplier goes through....tell me how said private school with lets say 250 students, in some schools almost 70% girls...if you use the multiplier and say that school now participates in a division now at 500 strengh....how do the private school coaches take this 50% incease in their team numbers with players that do not exist....hope everybody feels better.......FRA with 23 players.....CPA in high 30's.....Ezell with 38 players......those sure are high numbers....I guess now though FRA will have 46 players....CPA close to 70 and Ezell with almost 80 players...over which half are invisible...here's the good news....their will be lots of room on the bus ride with half those players not really existing...this will solve everything.....what about the Trousdale County years, the South Pittsburgh years....they didn't whine, they didn't cry about the cheating Private schools....tell you what ....if that makes the small public schools feel better....more power to you...that way the trophy will be that much more earned......if you can't beat them, vote them out.....don't people eventually get tired of running? guess not....tell me when the multiplier goes into effect and the same people keep winning ...what's next....no spread offense...only two receivers into the route and then on first down....we've all won and we've all lost.....everybody has up and down years....just don't fool yourself....play the game and stop crying!!!!

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
