Father-Son State Champs

What about Mike Morales, 1974 state champ from Fr. Ryan. He has a son Matt (a junior at Ryan) who hopefully will be a state champ. Matt has several state champs in his family, Joe Morales, (Fr. Ryan) his uncle, Bubba Donnelly (Fr. Ryan), his uncle and Justin Zapp, (Brentwood High) his cousin -----

 

I'd say that poor guy has some pressure on him to follow in the family's footsteps.

Dead - I'll second that assessment of Dan Waddell. This weekend was the 1st time I've seen him wrestle and I left impressed. I've seen a lot of good freshmen this year, and he is right up there with the best of them. The future in bright in TN.

Joe was a good High School wrestler but he came up just short of a state championship I think............and if I remember correctly the guy who stop Joe from being the a champ was Dan Colvard/East Ridge. If I'm wrong someone tell me. (that was a stupid thing for me to say)

Matt Morales is a good wrestler with no pressure from anyone. His dad is a great, attends all his matches, as well as uncles and aunts. Matt does have the potential to go but it will most likely be his senior year. .

Hey, I'll back you up on that one, Irishdad. I've seen Morales wrestle at CBHS and Father Ryan. He is very quick from neutral. As soon as those huge McCallie kids move up a few weight classes, I can definitely see Morales going all the way.

Just to bring back up this old subject , correct me if I'm wrong , but I believe Mike Craft won a state championship in Alabama and his son Josh won a championship for East Ridge in 2000 .
