Le't take nothing away from the freshmen that are doing well in the lower weights, but doing well at 103 or 112 as a freshmen is not the same as doing well at 160 and 171. The lower weight wrestlers are wrestling mostly freshmen and sophmores where the 160 and 171 guy's are wrestling against juniors and seniors that have more experience. When was the last time that at freshmen won the state at a weight class above 150/lb? Has it ever been done in Tennessee?

That's true. Last year, only three freshmen qualified for state in D1 from 152 up. All three lost in the first round. Two years ago, four qualified, but all lost in the first round. D2 is a different story (everyone goes to state, and it's much easier to place with the smaller brackets). Hobbs (McCallie) placed 6th as a freshman at 171. Walker (Baylor) placed 4th at 215.

Most of the ranked wrestlers at 103 and 112 in D1 are Jrs. and Sr.s

Yea, he's pretty good. He had a great match earlier in the year with another freshman named Brett Rogers from Collierville. Both these kids are absolute beasts. I've never seen two freshmen that have developed physically as quickly as these two.

ive wrestled both colliarvilles and pjp2 pope is much better more exp.but the coll guy is pretty good 2 hes been pinned too many times....
