South-Doyle, They are interviewing now.

Heritage, Never know what is happening there. Not to sound negative, but they are the stepchild of Blount County.

William-Blount , Who's gonna get it Nick White, or Scott Meadows. If you want the kids to come out of the Hallways and onto the field you better hire White. Although Meadows can get good athletes to play, once they leave he does too. Nick White got kids that would never have played to play for him at LC. If William Blount has as many athletes as they say they have he will get them out.

Passinggame, you must be on crack. Nick White is a good coach, but to hire him over a proven winner like Meadows would be just another idiot move by the blount Co. system. Meadows, even though I want him to stay at Jeff. Co., is a proven winner. He will keep the kids at Blount who now wear the Red and Black. Nick White, I am afraid, would not be able to stem GQ's tide of talent. Who have you heard is on South-Doyle's list?

Why did Meadows leave Alcoa? Why is he leaving Jeff Co.? Where was he prior to going to Alcoa and how long was he there? Why does he always manage to leave after a large number of athletes graduate? I do think he is a good coach, but it does not look good when you do this several times.

I believe the committee at William Blount has finished interviewing finalists and will be making a recommendation at the end of the week--which will have to meet with school superintendant approval before being officially announced.

My thoughts on some of the people who have been considered:

Nick White - great young coach; history with William Blount (dad coached there, he played there); did a great job in his first year at Lenoir City; "heard" that he took his name out of contention early on, but that's just hearsay, not fact.

Robert Reeves - current WB assistant; longest tenure of any coach on staff I believe; has shown great dedication and commitment to the program; loves William Blount and loves kids; expert on the wing-T offense;

Scott Meadows - his winning record speaks for itself; people worry about his stability, but I really don't ( I can see reasoning behind every move he's made); from what I hear, he's a player's coach who can really get kids interested and onboard; has strong ties to Blount County and wants to settle here.

I also understand one of the Julian's (from Halls) is in the mix and also a Coach Pratt (Allen, maybe) who's a MHS grad. Don't know a whole lot about these guys, but what I've heard has been real positive.

I'm encouraged. I don't see how WB can go wrong with any of these fine young coaches. I'll sure support whoever gets it and I can't wait to find out who it's gonna be.

We need to get to work so we can be ready to "beat those Rebels" next year. That last line was for my Coach T Maryville friends. I'm just funnin' with you.

Who is it Ela?

Coach Tom Rewis resigned this week at Fairview High School in Williamson County and I have it on good word that he has accepted the position at Heritage although I don't know if they've made the formal announcement yet. I hope Mrs. Kemp will forgive me if it hasn't been made official yet, but I assume that he will be the Mountaineers new leader. He is a great man and a good coach... I wish him well and I pray that the team will rally around him and give him your total support!

I have to agree with you 81, I hope he knows what he is getting into. I do wish the mountaineers well, and hope they get it turned around. With Maryville and Alcoa having so much success lately it is hard to keep the kids from moving to those schools. The athletic base is not like it is at William Blount. It is the stepchild for Blount Co. as bad as it may be.

For coach Rewis to succeed he will need the support from the Blount County School board. Heritage could be a sleeping giant if they would get the support from the school board. There are athletes in that school. They just aren't going out for the sports teams.

RebelRon Are those athletes at Heritage that are you spoke of, that are not playing, doing anything? There might be a reason for that. When a school is not a hot commodity (unlike Maryville ) the athletic base tends to go down. Heritage has been down for a while. I am sure they have size, but what about speed. Do they have any?

When do interviews for South-Doyle start? Who is in the running for that job? I had heard they are already interviewing, but I'm not sure they are yet.

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
