Yeh soms that forfiet goes to a different wrestler now making McCallie that much stronger. Most dont want Bradley to be number one so they manufacture reasons. Besides, McCallie will have their hands full with Baylor next time around and may not win some of the pivotal toss up matchups they were able to pull off the other night. McCallie is very strong, they hung on to one point win vs a very good Soddy team. However at the risk of rehashing already know facts, bradley beat that same Soddy team by 21. They beat Collins Hill by 26(sorry RMC not trying to rub it in) the same team that beat bayler by 10 and etc., etc. etc. Now they beat Parkview, who thrashed everyone all year , a team that beat collins hill etc., etc., etc., and we come up with a scenario that Bradley may not be no. 1 . Well they may not be, and O.J. may be innocent. Maybe Johnny Cochran voted in the AP poll this week. Bradley also does this without shuffelling a lineup that includes a 103. I may be wrong fellow posters but this one is obvious. The head to head comments are about to fly out of the woodwork but this year with all the common opponents that argument wont flly either. Ill sit back now and wait for all the grenades. You all know in your heart Im right, you hate it but Im right.

Point well made. You're not a Morris are you? You sound like the man hiimself.

Its not excuses, you know it and by now anybody with any knowledge of the current history of area wrestling knows it. There are reasons things are the way they are whether or not you agree with one side or the other.Bradley as even most Bradley haters know is the best team in the state this year period. Like I said in the earlier post, you dont like it, but you know it. I agree with you about Soddy, they are good. so is Baylor, So is McCallie, but Bradley is better. By the way does Baylor wrestle McMinn? Because if they dont you really cant say your better than them? That logic never ends. But this controversy for this year is over. Good luck in your upcoming battle with McCallie.I think you may split with them and help eliminate the controversay in your mind as well.(and I wasnt comparing your team to McMinns. I was illustrating a point. So save the outrage.) RMC I would like to apologize for breaking the mention of a Collins Hill defeat twice in the same post. But I do admire your candidness. It was a low blow, but no animosity intended. It was to help illustrate a point you already acknowledged. You have great tradition and a great program. I enjoy hearing your point of view. Even when you werent sure Bradley would beat Parkview. Good luck to you the rest of the year. Ill try to keep up with ettiquette from here on out LOL. At least you have a sense of humor.

I’m not trying to offend anyone here, but no one will really know who the best team is until they wrestle each other. McCallie can claim they are the best team all day as well as Bradley can. But until these two teams wrestle no one can say whether one team is accurately better than the other. An arguement like this can only be determined on the MAT!!

So Baylor is not better than McMinn and Bradley is not better than Centennial. Neither wrestle those teams. You cant solve them all on the mat. Wait Im wrong, we could wrestle a eighty some match schedule in public and then all the private schools and then all the................. otherwise, whos no. 1? oh, and lsu and southern cal forgot to schedule william and mary so they arnent no 1 either. The way its decided under the circumstances we have to deal with Bradley IS no. 1 period.Again save the outrage of the McMinn and Centennial comparisons. Just illustrating a point. Again....And your right as you often are btow--sorry got carried away.

RMC,

Thank's for the compliment. But a State Duals title for Bradley is a long way from a sure thing.

We only have to go back to the 2001-2 season. Bradley beat Soddy in the regular season. Soddy was able to do some bumping and won the final 35-30. The same Bradley team went on to win the Traditional Tournament by almost 60 poits, BC put 6 in the finals, Soddy put 3. BC had 6 champions, Soddy had 2.

You know as well as anyone that State Tournaments do strange things to teams and wrestlers. IMHO Bradley has had the best team in the state each of the last 6 years but we only have won 4 of the last 6 State Dual titles. Is that becuase BC choked or didn't wrestle well? No, it's because Clarksville and Soddy accepted the challenge and wrestled great.

I will admit BC should be the favorite but when BC takes the mat they generally see the best the opponent has to offer. Soddy is very good and extremly well coached. Bradley will see an entirely different lineup that the one Soddy sent out last week. It will be fun and I am looking forward to it.

You made the statement that Soddy would have an entirely different line-up? Please share with us your opinion on Soddy's strategy. This I've got to hear.

Bradleys #1, then McCallie or Baylor "on any given day," Father Ryan could actually upset the red or blue for that matter, then it's a toss up between Soddy, Franklin, MBA, and then ND, CBHS, Clarksville, Kenwood, perhaps a Science Hill and another team from the left.

Well, since you put it in all CAPS Sommers, I guess it has to be correct (whatever). This is your opinion, polls are a number of people' opinions. THis is why polls stink, this is why D1 College football is stupid, the only level of football where they do not have a playoff. Even in Middle School football they have a playoff, just not NCAA D1. Anyhow, thank goodness we have a system that let's us settle it on the mat (for the most part.) This whole thread is because Bradley didn't get 3 #1 votes????? So what. 97 or 100 votes, big deal, still number #1, and Sommers, you definitely have a middle, east tennessee bias, maybe you have a hidden agenda, holding back Collierville when they are ranked 8th in the AP poll, and, for fun, just who has Notre Dame beaten to be thought of so highly?????, Or Clarksville???? or Science Hill?????? HMMMMMMMMM.................

What about Collierville Soms, we are tied with Franklin for 8th.

woops, that's the team from the left I left off (look at my last phrase regarding the left). I personally believe you're right and they belong in the top ten as well.

I didn't think my opinion was valued that much. :D

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
