It was a definite case of a AAA team acting like one. Cleveland was bigger, stronger, and faster than Central. That might not always be the case between the two teams but last night it was. Central will have some work to do to turn it around for the postseason. I think they will though. Make no mistake, this was a case of Central giving game away. Cleveland just outright beat them all night long. They should be congratulated for taking care of business.

Lady Blue Raiders 76, Chargerettes 34 Fallon Lee put Central on top 2-0, but the Chargerettes didn’t score again until Katie Morgan’s bucket with 25 seconds left in the period, leaving Cleveland with an 18-4 advantage.

Morgan benched four of his five starters in the second period as Cleveland raced to a 40-14 intermission margin.

The starters returned for the third period, but could do no better than trade baskets that left Cleveland with a 55-28 lead after three periods.

Morgan again substituted to open the fourth period and Cleveland sprinted away to the easy victory.

Jennifer Patterson and Lee had eight points each to lead the Central scoring.

Cleveland (18-5) got 29 points from junior Holly Rogers who has already signed with Vanderbilt University.

CENTRAL (34): Blevins 2, Armstrong 4, Lee 8, Bivens 2, Housley 2, Moss 2, Morgan 4, Rayburn 2, Patterson 8, Mullinax, Thompson, McCaslin, Cavitt.

Cleveland (76): Simpson 9, Wells 3, Boyce 2, Burnett 9, Smith 1, Shaver 3, Rader 10, Brett 10, Rogers 29.

Believe it or not HUCK, I'm beginning to actually like you (after the "Cleveland" remark in your last post). Cleveland is about as up and down as any team I've seen. They played a McMinn Central team that, for all intensive purposes, had not reason to win that game. I don't personally know coach Morgan, but I do know that he is a great coach and playing his bench almost 1/2 the game is only going to help him in the district and region tournaments coming up in the next few weeks. Make no mistake, Cleveland MUST have played well (over their heads probably), because they beat a very good team. It will be interesting to see how they play at Walker Valley next week (Tuesday) since the Lady Mustangs beat them at Cleveland earlier in the year.

I would hate to be the other teams in McMinn Central's district and region. Or even the next team they play. They're going to be out to "hurt" somebody.

i think that is twice they have been beaten by Cleveland and i don't think Morgan tried to lose the game that bad. Also Central is not that great of a team this year for some reason. They got drilled during the Christmas holidays and a very mediocre Loudon team beat them last week. They are heads above everybody but Walker Valley in the district but look at the other teams there. many elementary teams could beat them. Take them out of that district and see what happens.
