Greenfield - South Fulton

Greenfield won 82-69 tonight. Greenfield jumped up big early, but South Fulton clawed their way back into it, with Brandon Shane out with an ankle injury. He did not play very much in the first half.

Clint Blackburn was on fire tonight. Couldn't verify this, but I was told that he scored 41 points. Brandon played well before the ankle injury and he did come back in the second half. He looked to be a little tender, but played pretty well considering.

I don't understand South Fulton's approach. They play this helter skelter defense and pile up a huge number of fouls. By my count, they had six players to foul out tonight. Wilson, Alexander, Greer, Napier, Peat, and Waggoner all fouled out if I'm not mistaken. Alexander got a technical as he fouled out as well. I've seen South Fulton play five times this year and in each game they have gotten into serious foul trouble very early in the game.

Greenfield played really well, Brandon Shane twisted his ankle on a layup and had to sit out much of the first half with an ankle injury. But Clint Blackburn stepped up big time and carried us on his back. I think he must have made 20 free throws and 40 points. Clint was really focused on this game, you could tell by his play. Great basketball atmosphere, there was alot of energy by both teams and both cheering sections. South Fulton played very physical like they always do and kept fighting back, the game was closer than the score indicated. Good luck to both teams in the region next week.

Congratulations to Coach Willie Trevathan on being named 15A Boys Coach of the Year. Coach T, you've done a great job with the boys and girls team this year. We're behind you all the way and looking to bring that gold ball home this year.

The reason South Fulton gets into early foul trouble is they don't play that consistent of a team defense  They will show brief shades of great defensive play that looked similar to some of the Red Devil teams of three and four years ago.. But consistency has been a big issue in Big Red Country this season when it comes to defense.. That's why over 50 free throws were attempted by Greenfiled in the championship game this past weekend.. Combined both teams shot over 90 free throws in the game :blink:South Fulton must have a better effort on the defensive end against Peabody in the regionals or they could be in for a long night.

I normally just read the post on here, and your opinion about bad attitudes is just that, an opinion. Also, I know that anybody that knows anything about basketball knows that South Fulton has talent, and that we dont' play a certain style to make up for talent. But to say that 22 had a cheap shot on Brandon Shane is completly ridiculous. Thank what you want, but never was it a plan to hurt anybody out there and no cheap shots were thrown.

    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
    • Dorian Eskridge had a great Junior year, highlighted by a great game to lead HVA to an upset win at OR that year. I think that was 2010. In 2011 OR won at HVA. OR had a real good QB that year l think. Dorian Eskridge had a great senior year also. He always played hard from the DCM videos l saw.
