Division II East Region

Division II east region:

 

 

As early as the end of last year it has been apparent that Knox Catholic, Baylor, and McCallie would all have good programs this year. Who, however, will end up on top?

Knoxville Catholic is loaded with talent and experience this season. I'm not too familiar with the other schools in the DII east region but I do know how good Catholic can be.

Knox Catholic will defenintly be the front runner in Div. II east, but Baylor is very close behind, with Mccallie only a step behind that.

Is there some sort of tangible reason why everyone is putting Baylor ahead of McCallie? As I see it McCallie should be ahead of Baylor. We have the biggest difference maker in the city (Trey Meyer), they don't have a goalie. Larkin can shut down Dougher or at least contain him, whereas they have noone to stop our forwards and outside mids.

Chris Back doesn't nullify anything...Bach is fast but Mccallie has two senior outside mids with at least 2 years more experience

Bach's speed will present a problem and also his ability to put it in the back of the net... he should present soe problems... remember just because they are seniors doesn't mean they are any better...

I would agree with you Staynskool, but I played against Bach this summer and found that he is fairly easy to contain once you adjust to his speed (diving in against him will get you schooled). However, my main point was not about the outside mids, it was about the forwards and the outside mids together. The outside mids will be gettting forward alot this year. Bach is not an extremely good defender (aka he is more offensively oriented), also they have no real senior leadership in the back. Fynn might be there most experienced player and he is a sophomore. Also, like i said there keeper is not good. Therefore McCallie should be able to score on them. Baylor's offense however will have a hard time, even though they are talented, scoring on McCallie's defense and goalie.

 

McCaliie should be favored going into the season, at least over Baylor. Knox Catholic has to be beaten to lose their number one spot in the region.

 

Webb is number four then Notre Dame in my opinion.

I don't know... Im just really excited to see how this goes down... if yall have any idea about the schedule lemme know the dates and where they will be played... Baylor McCallie, and McCallie Catholic... and I guess Baylor Catholic... all 3 should be rather good games... I would ask about Notre Dame but they lost so much as far as Field players that I got a feeling its going to be a rough year for them in the district

Tough to know how those games will go, but they'll be great games. It's too bad that three East teams can't advance. Last year Baylor was clearly better than several of the Spring Fling teams from Middle and West Tn., yet they had to stay home.

100% correct Hoya. USN made it to states, and yet Baylor didn't. There is something wrong with that picture. This year the east has 3 of the top 4 or 5 teams in D2 and yet one of them will be at home, while 3 or four undeserving teams from the middle and west will make the trip to Memphis.
